.22 benchrest project

I would like to have built for me a .22 br rifle. What are the best components out there for this project? I would like to shoot it in the 10.5 lb class. Or is there anything that I can do to my 10/22 to get it up to competition standards?

Don't know about the BEST components. Looking at the equipment lists does little for this game since a Turbo, 40X, Annie, Hall,
Suhl, with the equal array of barrels, finishes at the top at different matches.

You can go full custom, or have a factory action, if it's built well and you can steer it, you can do well.

The 10-22 is not competitive with a good bolt action.

This will depend totally on what your budget will be. For a custom action there would be only one choice I would use and that would be a Turbo. My second choice would be the 40x or Annie, but I can't see spending around the same price for a CMP 40x or annie if one is just using the action unless you find a great deal somewhere.

Benchmark, Shilen, Broughton, and Lilja are all good barrel manufactures. Talk it over with your smith if you decide to pursue.

There's always the classifieds with some good deals that show up from time to time. Then there are rifles that have proven themselves in the competition arena that will come up for sale but will be pricey.

Nothing against the 10/22, I have one myself, but save the money and put it towards the new project.

JMHO,

Joe

Some good advice. I have also spoken to a few other people and I have decided to go with a Turbo.
Where would be the place to shop for the best price on a Turbo?

You can contact Flash Ebert at 432-664-1120 or 432-366-6063. Please keep us posted on your progress.

I did call Flash. He will sell a Turbo for $995.00. He said that there was a 2 week turn around. He also told me that as of the first of the year he would be going up $100 on the Turbo.

I was planning to purchase one next year, but it appears it will be before this year's up. Thank You for sharing the info.

I believe I'm gonna take the plunge to Joe. I hate spending an extra $100 when I can get myself a late Christmas present. I'm sure the misses won't mind. I just won't tell her.:sneaky:

Good Luck and wish you the best with the new project. Please feel free to email if you have any further questions.

Have a pleasant Holiday and Merry Christmas,

Joe
