I have a lot of 22LR and it is not for sale. How am I classified?

Are you a flipper? Nothing wrong with having a bunch. What I see as wrong are the guys that wait at wally world everyday to buy it up and sell it for 3X the price. I should've used the term 'FLIPPER" instead of hoarder.

As have posted, I started buying ammo that I don't load about 25 years ago. I have not sold any. I buy rimfire along as I have done for years. I just ordered 2 bricks of Eley Sport from Dan Killough last week. He said that particular ammo could be 3-4 months. So what! I have ammo to shoot in the meantime.
You can call me whatever you want. Mine is not for sale! I do have a lot of Sons, Grandsons, and friends that like to shoot.

First off I haven't called you anything. Guys that shoot a lot find what works well in their rifles and buy it when they can, I do the same thing. I have probably 2200 rounds, not a lot but enough to last me for a bit.

As I stated there are guys around here that are going to wal mart EVERY morning to wait for the ammo to come out. They buy it all and sell it for stupid money. IMO it's low grade, take it how you will.

That is just free enterprise. I hate WalMart, but I wouldn't go anyplace early in the morning for a few rounds of ammo.
Might be some bargains at the Shilen Swap Meet on the 29th of March.
You know the guys that you are complaining about don't bother me as I don't need to buy from them. People need to quit whining and buy a little along. The old Wally store isn't the only people that sell ammo.

I don't need to buy from those guys either, haven't bought any in two years. But what about the guy that has a couple kids that want to shoot that has to pay $50 for a $12 carton of bulk? No one around has any rimfire. I've checked eight or ten times in the last month, no bulk, no expensive stuff, none. It's to the point they hang a sign that says "no rimfire ammo".

I can do with out it, there is plenty of stuff in my basement to load 22-250 for a while and if I run out of that I'll shoot my scatter guns. Plenty of stuff to load those too.

Your also forgetting that there are many thousand new shooters that have bought a .22lr. The number is very high. Take that X 1000 rounds each, and the number is staggering. I have never bought ammo at Walmart, and don't plan to. I have been thinking really hard about being one of those, "gougers" with some of my HM2 ammo however. I bought several thousand rounds of Eley, and it is the least shot gun by far, out of many. If I put it on Gunbroker, I will not feel a minute of guilt.

Shoot some smallbore prone matches each year. That means some decent ammo for practice and high priced stuff for matches.

I just get on a back order list from places like Champion Shooters Supply and Champions Choice for some Wolf Match or Match Extra and buy a case when it comes in. It might take 6 weeks or so for the order to come in. The case will last me a couple of years of practice and matches. It isn't plinking ammo but it's available none the less.

The Midas+ is never a problem to get, problem is purchasing enough of the same lot. Any of the high end match stuff is expensive.

I used to shoot local competition and got my Lapua Midas+ and CenterX from Champion Shooters Supply. Got my Match shooting ammo (UM22) from Bruno's. BTW, I practiced and still do so with the Midas+ and CenterX. The Wolf ammo doesn't get it with my rifle. As you say, this isn't a poor man's sport or it'll make you that way once your in it. Wolf is the only ammo I have that costs under $10 a box and that is what I use for plinking with my grandsons. And that was bought years before the shortage or alleged gouging period.

Did you not see my suggestion to call Killough Shooting Sports?? Your"What about the guy that has a couple kids"? He ain't no different than all of us. He should always have extra on the shelf. You need to get over the gouger and hoarder excuse. Not saying a few ain't out there, but that is not the root of the problem. Were you a Boy Scout? What is their motto?

That's on him. And if .22lr ammo is too expensive...then possibly shooting it the hobby he needs to pursue. If he feels that it is, but doesn't want to buy .22lr for the price it cost....he can either suck it up or look at different calibers. .17hmr is $11-15/50.....even the most expensive .22lr is cheaper than that...most I've seen is $8/50. He could also look at 5.56....you're looking at the low end of $6/20...that's still ~$15/50... See, that expensive .22lr ain't looking too bad now, huh?

All you have to do is call Dan at http://www.killoughshootingsports.com/index.php/ammo.html Tell him what you want and you will be put on his list. It is better than being on the computer talking about it. Prices range from CCI at $2.88 a box of 50 up to $19. per box of the best Eley. Prices are in between depending on what you shoot.
I have a feeling our answers were not what you were either expecting or wanted to hear. I'm sorry about that. I can change none of it. You need to get proactive.

People who want to complain should perhaps remember the adage: "Sour grapes are out of season".

Let's say there's a calamity, affecting your ability to get food/water/power. If your neighbor had foresight and equipped themselves (likely FAR in advance) so they were able to get through the shortage in relative comfort, would you be blaming them and calling them a hoarder, or would you think "Crap, why was I so short-sighted, and lazy, and apathetic, and cheap, and a proscratinator?"

For me, I hope I'm man enough to be the latter, rather than the former. Playing the victim card is the purview of liberals, for those who want to suckle at the government teat (meaning you are paying for them) and those who want to be in power over the suckers.

Let the free market reign. 8)

Found this earlier today - Remington is doing a major expansion of their Lonoke, Arkansas facility. They are even adding a new building. This is an ammunition manufacturing facility. New additions to the facility should be fully productive in the 2nd quarter of this year. Hopefully they will be cranking out 22s.

Shortages of every commodity go in cycles. If you want to stock up, stock up. If you want to put the "gougers" on your poo list, do so. But please remember, free enterprise is free enterprise. Do you want price controls and availability controls on ammo? Ammo and firearms? Ammo and/or firearms you are able to possess? It is a slippery downhill road to total ammo and gun control.

Just got an email from CMP. Said they are taking orders for Aguila and delivery in 4-6 weeks. A case of 5000 rounds will be $305.
Now start whining again, "I don't need that much!" or I'm not a member of a CMP club. I said be proactive. Ammo is available at several places if you will just be patient and wait a few week. Aguila shoots great in my custom 10/22 and in my various mod 37 Remingtons.

I received this email at 9:24am the 19th of February 2014. It reads as sent to me.

AGUILA .22LR AND .30 CARBINE AMMO PRICE INCREASES. For the past seven years CMP has purchased Aguila ammunition from Centurion Ordnance, Helotes, TX. Centurion Ordnance is no longer the U.S. distributor for Aguila ammunition. The sole U.S. distributor for Aguila ammunition now is Texas Armament & Technology (TX-AT) in Houston, TX. Yesterday we received new pricing from TX-AT and adjusted our selling prices accordingly. Prices now are as follows:



Aguila Standard Velocity .22LR, 5000 rd case,
CMP item number 419ASVSE, increase from
$260 to $305 per case.

Aguila Target Golden Eagle .22LR, 5000 rd case,
CMP item number 419ASVGE, increase from
$385 to $445 per case.

Aguila .30 Carbine FMJ, 500 rd case,
CMP item number 438A, increase from
$210 to $225 per case.



CMP regrets that we have to pass these increases on to our customers and understands that some of our customers will now wish to cancel their orders. Please email cancellation requests to custserve@thecmp.org.

It does say they will fill existing orders first. Will you keep waiting until it is too late to place an order for the future deliveries?


AGUILA .22LR DELIVERY STATUS. The Aguila ammunition distributor, TX-AT, has informed CMP that due to the massive nationwide Rimfire shortage deliveries to CMP will only be a few hundred cases every 4-6 weeks and it may take another year to receive all the .22LR ammunition we currently have on order with them. When this ammo is received, customers who had orders already placed with the CMP will be contacted to determine if they wish to pay the increased price per case or if they wish to cancel their orders. Customers with oldest orders will be contacted first. Until all existing orders have been filled, CMP will not accept any new orders for Aguila .22LR.

I just checked a couple of mine and I don't see or feel any lube.
If any of you have kept up with the CMP, you would know that their order is for a few million rounds of Aguila. Don't procrastinate! Get your order in. Some will cancel.
