flybuster,
you wouldnt happen to be trying to shoot this gun at the sportsman's challenge would you?
i dont mind if you chime in here. i wouldnt mind hearing some more about the heavier bullets anyhow. i am thinking of trading my 1:12 for something faster, i may need it to show up first. i would like to see what the light bullets do on things and group wise.
I set up this gun so that I could have a flat shooting long range gun for coyotes/varmints, and planned to use this on varmint steel matches. But the gun just doesn't want to group under 1" most of the time.
I chose the high B.C. 22 caliber bullets over 6mm because they are somewhat comparable in B.C. to a 105 but I can launch them faster with a smaller case. I was particularly interested in the A-Max because I thought it would be highly frangible, and perfect for varmints and coyotes. Plus the lighter recoil of the 22 cal would make spotting hits easier.
The gun is a Tikka T-3. The original barrel is a great shooter, but I was just limited to lightweight bullets. Love this Tikka, great handling rifle, nice trigger, smooth bolt.
You bet, If I can find a load for this gun that's what I'll shoot!
