22-250AI Thoughts

I think your right on the money! IMHO, I think it makes much more sense to do a CM over a 250AI, just for that reason. But I had to throw it out there. I knew I would have to fire form, but I only need 100 pcs. I will ponder this. The whole reason behind this post, is because I have a buddy who wants to sell the rifle mentioned (LNIB) and I was just trying to get ideas. However, that twist just isn't going to work.

Thanks everyone!!!

When fireforming my loads were pretty accurate.

What are your thoughts on a Ruger Hawkeye Predator 22-250, 14T, 24-inch barrel, and AI it? What weight bullet might I be able to get away with you think? I'm thinking 55-grain max.

I do not like the tapered case on the standard 22-250 and have had bad luck with cycling the action in the pasT

It's a great chambering, my first was in '89 and since then I've always had a couple. Fireforming with 50BT's @ a bit over 4100 (on varmints), formed brass through that barrel 4226 with 50 bal tips. . I like it very much. Don't know how a Ruger would feed. Mine are on Remingtons and feed ok but you have to chamber a little slower......not a big problem because the thing is so accurate you don't need a second shot, it gets hit it goes down.

Hum.... I was always told that the std 250 from time to time could give someone cycling issues. I know in my M77R I experienced that. Could have been buck fever though, or just short stroking it? IDK?
NEVER Had ANY, Feeding "issues", EVER with either of, my 2,.. .22-250 Remington, Model 700, "Lefty's".
Used, a Slight Shoulder "Bump" with, FORSTER Dies = NO issues
Using, 50 gr. V-Maxes at, 3,550 FPS, in my Braked .22-250,.. I can SEE,. the "Splodies" on Sage Rats !
I'd "Look at" your mod. 77 Ruger Action for, the "Problem",.. NOT,.. the Cartridge
