22/250 for deer

I killed a lot of deer using 80gr Amax in my old .22-250 Brux 1-8” twist. Worked fantastic. In or behind shoulder.

If I knew I the deer I was hunting could be up to 300 pounds I would probably pick a bigger round like your 6.5 for more energy also. That being said after seeing the damage my 22/243 does with the 75gr amax bullets I wouldnt hesitate to take a shot at those distances on a 300 pound deer if conditions were good. probably limit it to a neck shot though. I have killed a 160 pound doe at 350 yards and her inside poured out. I was amazed at the damage of that little bullet as most of the deer i had shot had been neck shots.

Every deer I’ve taken with .22-250 as well as .223 have been shoulder or just behind the shoulder shots. I am not afraid of the the .22 center fires when using an appropriate bullet.
