22-250 bullet choices

What would the largest bullet be I could use in a 24" 1 in 14 twist barrel? I'd like to try something bigger than 55 grains if possible.

The gun is a Win. Model 70 Coyote. Any barrel options with faster twist for this thing?

Thanks.

For that twist you might be able to stabalize a 60 gr. or somewhere abouts. Just have to try it and see. I like the 1 - 9 twist for 22-250 which will allow you to shoot up to about 75 gr. maybe 80 gr. in the right bullet. Bill

I have a winchester 70 Heavy varmint and is the best shooting factory rifle I have ever seen! Regularly shoots.3 and .2 at 100yds. I kill P dags out to 400 with boring regularity. I shoot 36.0 gr of IMR 4895 50 gr hornady vmax 3810 oout of my gun.

Try the Sierra 60g HP....it'll do just fine in a 14 twist.

They think they're a matchking in my 14 twist 223 AI! :D

Guys,

Thanks for the info. I think I will give the 60's or 62's a try. Would a guy want to speed them up and do close to max loads?

Thanks again.

+ 1 for Sierra 60 hp. Its the most accurate bullet in my rifle, bar none. Accurate and cheap is a wonderful combination. I just ordered 1000 more a few minutes ago.

What's a good distance to seat the 60 gr bullet from the lands? I did some shells last night that are 0.015". I'm thinking that might be a little close???

Thanks.
