Parts bin .22 ARC

Okie dokie and today . 15 pieces left . Haven't cleaned the gun past getting most of the powder out but only had 15 pieces of brass left so ..egh.

But I guess I work up with a little more sense this morning and used one of those spent converted case to make a split case . Now idk what the actual name for these are but I just call them a split case . All it is is a way for you to find your jam...or where your bullet hit the rifling. Just take a case cut a slit down to the shoulder with a Dremel, pinch it a lil so it holds a bullet with a lil grip and chamber it with a bullet seated long. When it hit the lands the bullet gets pushed into the case and the tension keeps it there so you can measure.... Idk why I'm explaining all this it's probably something about all y'all have done lol

But before IMG_20251105_104915837.jpgafterIMG_20251105_105155724.jpg
Did it a few times and 1.764 is jam so gonna just do 1.760 for a .004 jump...lil much but should definitely keep us from sticking

And a few little mods I made to make stuff in it nicer ... Cut out the bar on the hand guard that blocked the gas block adjustment screwIMG_20251105_121439671.jpg
Stole the break off my .223 Wylde I never shoot because this lil guy has some upwards buck. Recoil isn't heavy or hard just you shoot and be off target

Moved the scope around a bit and. Got this goofy deal found on with the bippod where one leg is longer then the other but works better then both evenIMG_20251105_121424955.jpg

Aannnd were at the very tail end of this load
Screenshot_20251105-110243.png

Had to run the first five to get back on target but after that

So ....so far growing pains of getting this ting running decent aside ..... I'll be honest.... I don't get all the hype .... Don't get me wrong , yeah I'm slinging these a good 300 fps faster then my .223 and 5.56 with the same bullet .... But other then the fact I'll be able to keep going heavier and he we bullets MAG FEEDING .... Eghhhhhhhis it worth getting a while new upper or build as like a necessity deal ....I don't feel so , unless you need /wanna be in the bleeding edge of stuff constantly..
Now the whole deal about it doing near .22-250 performance in an AR15 platform.... I think with "classic) 22-250 weight bullets there might be something there ...but again...egh anyhow got the brass resized and in the tumbler right now might try some 60gr vmaxes or something tomorrow
...ok now time to go mess with the is .22-250 again

Ok Ok so back at it like 55 rd in and gonna give her a cleaning ..squirted some hoppes down the bore aannnndd got blue after a few minutes...which I don't get usually. Usually it's black
IMG_20251106_185354276.jpgIMG_20251106_185405636.jpg
And some bore scope pics

Decided to switch powders and try some RAMSHOT TAC since I had an unopened can and the numbers looked good

Same set up as before got the adjustable gas back on since I got it tuned up last time and act found my grendel mag !
Took the scope BACK off my 22-250 .....I should really just buy another one for a floater so had to re sight
50yd looked good . First was low then a nice lil bug hole
IMG_20251107_120815532.jpg
... problem is now ... It's back to not ejecting or doing a last round hold open , it's feeding but ...yeahIMG_20251107_114155579.jpg
Perfect ejection but I'm kinda sick of fiddling with this thing ...
Anyhow TAC gave some great numbers but the groups where just .....meh... usable ...but meh. At this point I said I just have an emotional attachment to this dang bullet because two of my other guns like them so decided to do something different
image_cropper_1762549923437.jpg

So went back in ripped the adjustable back off the the non adjustable gas back on and tightened it all up

As far as bullet , next heaviest thing I had a lot of was the 60gr VMAX and apparently for .22 cal this lil dude is the best out of all of them apparently they're not AS hyper explosive as the lighter ones so
IMG_20251107_125544158.jpg

Now I was looking for data on the app but...Hornady didn't have any for the 60gr VMAX... For some reason, they have data for most of the 50 somethings the 62 ELDVT and the heavies but not the Vmax ... Thought that was odd
Screenshot_20251107-182625.png

But figured I'd use the 62 gr data and just keep an eye on the brass . If anything I would get a lil more velocity with the lighter bullet .... Kids please don't do this follow the book I'm probably going to blow my face off one day
Screenshot_20251107-140242.png
Something else that made me think was maybe it's not in there because possibly the 60gr is one of those that you can't push super fast in a fast twist .....but then I did som googling and tons of people run it in fast twist .22-250's even having some boutique custom stuff you can buy so it can't be that so who knows
Screenshot_20251107-150057.png
Long story short worked pretty good ! Before feeding. Off the rip though I did get a few jams that I'll chalk up to the mag. Nothing crazy at all just drop the mag shake the round out and re load it
IMG_20251107_130538727.jpg
Groups were much better but velocity....egghh I just barley coming over a well loaded .223 or 5.56.... though these are out of a 24" barrel vs my 20" so there that

Screenshot_20251107-183547.pngScreenshot_20251107-183621.png

So seeing I only had 15 pieces of brass left I said let me try and get more speed so I can feel better , and lever ...again... Had some of the best velocity ranges ...so
Screenshot_20251107-140242.pngIMG_20251107_140257127.jpg
Little.more recoil but not much at all brass ejection went to more 4-430 but was getting a bit better speed wise . Will say though I definitely rushed the last group on the right because Dad called and had to come get me for something so maaabye it could have been better
image_cropper_1762553675874.jpg

So looking at the numbers and taking everything into account...yeaahhh it's a bit of an upgrade and as far as a easy button in a AR15....yeah this is about as close as your gonna get to 22-250 performance without going full on custom wild cat mode. I mean I got like ....$200 in this and that's mainly just the barrel dies, brass and shipping everything else was just parts out the bin and other stuff I had for a standard .223/5.56.... I mean and my 6.5grendel BCG and mag but yeah .... Don't think I could see myself dropping $1500 on a whole new gun ... But if I had a spare upper I don't use and wanted a lil more ....yeah definitely
Anyhow think this is gonna be the end. Of this lil adventure for a while gonna pick a load ,load up a bunch and try to shoot something ...think that 31.0gr of leaver is a decent load
