22-250 Ackley improved

Just ordered a cooper 22-250 Ackley improved,is there such a thing as 22-250 Ackley improved Dies or would i just neck size only, with a standard neck sizing die.I have searched the web and cannot find a set of 22-250 Ackley improved dies.Cheers Madmanx

If you look on Redding's web site, in their on line catalog, you will find all manner of 22-250 Imp.,improved, as in Ackley improved) dies. I would suggest Type S,bushing type) FL and neck dies, as well as their standard or competition seater. Have fun.

Problem i have is that i live in the u k so have limited resources and we have to pay far much more for things than you guys in the states

Lee makes a 2 die set they refer to as very limited production dies.I ordered a set a while back from Lock, Stock, & Barrel www.lockstock.com Price was reasonable and so far no problems with the dies. Thought this might be an option for you. Good luck.

If you already have a Lee collett neck sizing die for the 22-250 rem. it will work just fine with the 22-250 AI. I do the same thing for a 223 AI.

I'll agree on the D&R store on Ebay....I recently purchased a Redding type S neck sizing die for a 20 Vartarg. Good price but shipping has been kinda slow.

STEVE.try ringing RELOADING SOLUTIONS 01865 378200 they will have 22-250 AI dies or ring NORMAN CLARKE [dont have his number to hand].failing that buy from the U.S.A. the price you pay will not be far off what they will cost over here;iv bought 3 sets of dies from the U.S.A. all arrived on time and no hastle.

Assuming you have the 40 degree shoulder version, all you really need is a neck sizing die. If you want your very own dies made to your gun, send Redding about US$100.00 and three (3) fired cases. They will make dies that are for that barrel and that barrel ONLY!. No need to full length form and far less trimming than full length sizing. And a seater die, naturally. Do all the little nicieties-primer pockets, chamfer inside of neck and inside of primer tube neck, weigh 'em out--all the stuff. Should make quite happy. Try the little 30gr. Bergers. Rich Macholz at Sierra said you should be able to get right at 5000fps+/- with those or Sierra's light bullets.

Grafs have the lee dies in stock. Very good dies, I have three 22 250 all shoot well and fast. Very flexible round. Try a 75 gr for deer . A 75 gr hornady a max is a deadly bullet on anything deer size and travels right down the road. Midways also have them in stock.
