21 Sharp Is it a Lemon

.21 Sharp is just the next gimmick. More than one review of the accuracy or lack of. Is it the ammo or the guns chambered for it. We may never know. Who is going to put the r&d into the precision aspect of the .21, I suspect no one.

With a more conventional bullet design than the 22RF the 21 Sharp should
be able to achieve better accuracy than current 22RF offerings.

Winchesters latest 22RF offerings are not noted for their superior accuracy
and most likely the 21 Sharp ammo is made by the same production line.

I believe if Lapua, RWS or Eley manufactured 21 Sharp sales would explode.

Only if I think a round will exist in the future. Not going to get hung with a useless gun. Waited a long time while .17s sorted out the winner. Bought an hmr which is the most popular and ammo will always be available.

If that round sticks around I would be surprised. That video didnt sell it at all IMO. Acuuracy acccording to that video is depressing but it was shot with a savage 22 in a plastic stock with a lock in type rest so I suspect that would be a large part of it.
Best of luck for it and at least we get to see something new even if it flops... at least its not on my dime for a change.

Yep....DOA

I watch YouTube for entertainment and maybe learn a little. One thing I’ve learned is that most YouTubers work harder on their acting and video content than the actual subject of the video. So I’ll critique this one…

He’s shooting off a tripod next to his truck in some field that for sure he doesn’t own and welcomes us to his shooting range…

He’s testing the latest and greatest rimfire for accuracy at 25 yards and then super excited the first 2 rounds go in the same hole. Then claims another YouTuber must have got a lemon because that group is under half inch. Also writes the size of the group on the target at .638” along with the size of the group of just the last 3 shots at .257”. I don’t need say anymore to a bunch of shooters…

Well, the truth is, I couldn’t watch the rest.

Sorry I tried to watch the whole video and couldn't make it. I saw this guy before and couldn't make it through that whole video either.

Correct me, if Iam wrong, but I believe Winchester introduced their .21 Sharp inorder to have a rimfire Long Rifle with a lead freed bullet. They made the bullet diameter smaller inorder to be used in many old .22 Rifles. The smaller diameter bullet would be kinder to ones' rifle barrel.

It will play hell replacing the 22RF. There has been so much R and D over the years with 22RF that I still see it being superior in the long haul of time. From the looks of the ammo, they need a lot more work on bullet design, let alone ammo as a whole.

I really doubt we ever see the premium RF makers step into the 21 circle. They got bit pretty hard years ago with the 17’s as I recall.

The air guns are coming on strong. It seems I read or hear that new better development is here darn near every week. There is a huge R and D race for sure.

Isn't the diameter of a regular .22 LR .221"-.222"?
The groove diameter of a .22 Long Rifle barrel is 0.222 inches. The nominal bullet diameter is 0.2255 inches, with a tolerance of -0.004. However, it's common for bullets to be 0.224 inches or slightly larger.

If a .21 Sharp round with .210 inch bullet was fired in a standard .22 LR gun there will be some gas blow by and about no accuracy with key holing at the target very likely. The .210 bullet is too loose of a fit.
