20BR or 22BR

I've had a XP for sale for a while with very little interest so I'm considering a rebarrel to something else I would enjoy shooting. My favorite XP I have owned was a 22BR slow twist shooting 52 gr bullets. My thoughts now is a fast twist 22 BR or 20BR to have a little more range than the 52's had . Any thoughts on these two in an XP platform will be appreciated.
Chris

You go the fast twist on 22 I would look at the 22CM, can’t believe I just said that….
20 or 22, depends on what it is you want to do or expect from them. I have both and for compost different purposes.

If your wanting to shoot heavier bullets and get more range the 22BR hands down imo, There’s no wrong choice though. Both are a load of fun to have and shoot.

I haves a 20 br on a 700 rifle . Shooting light bullets it’s a laser out to 400 yards. Next build will be a 22 br. I had to Have a set of dies anyway to size brass down from 6 to 22 then down to 20. The 20 is a lot of sun shooting praire dogs.!!!!

An 80.5 Berger 22 cal 3000 fps drops i believe 48" at 500 yards, 55 Berger 20 cal i think is 37" at 3400fps.
I was trying to guess what a short barrel 20BRA vrs 22BR would be in comparison.
Even down to 3200 with a straight BR its 44".
Can you get 3000 fps with a short barrel 22BR with an 80.5?

How much more range is desired? I have a 22BR shooting 55BKs and haven't had any groundhogs safe out to 500 yards. The 20BR in an XP would be a hoot though.

From my understanding 55 grain Berger 20 cal bullets are essentially unobtanium.

In terms of long range target shooting, I think I would be smart in these times, and choose 22 simply because you can get bullets.

Been in stock the whole shortage

Buy enough for the life of your barrel and you have no problem. Ive been doing that even before all this B.S.
Unless things get better your a fool if you dont no matter what cal you shoot.
