Would you guys care to share your favorite loads for the 204 Ruger, 32 grain bullets?

Thanks for your help
Larry

My load is 27.5 H322; Sierra 32 gr Blitzking; Win cases; Federal Bench Rest Primers. 3.050 OAL. Group size .5@200 yds. Bullet seated to be about 10 thousands off lands.

Biggest problem is most factory throats are way, way to long. Check to see what your throat is. You could be jumping bullet 20 to 250 thousands off the lands.

currently use 28 gr of IMR 4895 in my 204 ruger. Super accurate, but the extruded powder sucks in a measure :( Dang factory barrel won't shoot nothin' else very good. Got a new barrel sitting in my gun room waiting to be put on though. Hopefully the new barrel will like one of my ball powders cuz I'm sick weighing my charges so much on a varmint rifle.

Your best bet is to get a "ball powder" to shoot good no matter what. meters so much better. Ramshot and Accurate make excellent ball powders for flowing in a measure. Ramshot X-Terminator, Ramshot TAC, AA-2230, AA1680.....you know what I mean.

I went with 39 grain Sierra's when I started out. As far as powder I've had good luck with RL-15 and H4895. Benchmark & IMR 8208-XBR have shown a lot of promise and I get the fastest velocity with 8208-XBR. Both of these powders are extruded but they are real fine, much smaller than RL-15, H4895 & Varget and meter very well in both my Dillon & Hornady powder measures. HTH

Hey Guys

I really appreciate the good info on loading for this cartridge.

Thanks and keep them coming

I do have a pet load I developed myself and it worked very well. Not found in any manual anywhere so try at your own risk. I used 19gr of Hogdon Lil' Gun behind a 39gr Sierra BlitzKing with great accuracy and safe pressures in my Remington 700 BDL. So the same charge behind a lighter weight 32gr bullet should be safe as well.

I developed it to save money on powder by using a faster burn rate and a smaller charge having minimal case fill. Do not start at a lesser charge without a case filler for risk of the "grenade effect".

15 gr. of LiL Gun works great with 50 gr, 221 Fireball, BUT pressure builds fast with 1 gr increase, BE CAREFUL using lil gun in a 204 Ruger.

agreed. I developed the load adjusting by .2 gr increments. Lil' gun is very fast and has to be worked up with caution.

Reloader 10 ,around 25 grains of 10-X for 32-34-39 grain bullets. If you do your own homework and don't shoot for speed

brass will last longer and accuracy is excellent. Cleanest powder for the 204.

Reloader 10-X

Fed 205M primers/Magtech 7 1/2

Hornady /use 205 M primers
Winchester Brass/use Magtech 7 1/2

32 Hornady V-Max
34 Generic HP's
39 Sierra is the most accurate in my 12 twist.
2.260 Col.

I spent forever trying to perfect a load for my .204. I ended up with 25.3g of IMR3031 pushing a 39g blitzy, absolutely hammers. Funny how you dont see to many 3031 loads for a .204. My 22-250 and .204 eat it up.

32 GR Sierra BlitzKing, 27.5 Gr Benchmark, 2.26 COAL, Norma Brass.....shoots in the 2'-3's in my Cooper .204. I have also just tried same load with XBR and shot a few nice groups but still testing.....good luck!
