204 and predators

I have an all weather ultra light 204 with a burris 4.5-14x42 ao perched on top of it.Extremely accurate for a 20inch light weight barrel.Shoots 1/4 inch 5shot groups all touching.Has anyone at this forum shot coyotes or other predators with it yet? What were the results? Can hide damage me minimized on say bobcat or other fur bearers? Ive only shot coons with it so far and a couple of crows.Explosive results indeed!

Glenn,

I have shot yotes, coons, cats, and foxes with a .204 all at night and very close range. Under 50 yards with all shots. Hornady factory ammo was shot exclusively. Most of the shots, I would say 90% were simply devastating. Big wound channel, huge exit wounds.

I had to take down my neighbors dogs, two big rottweilers . They had gone rampid and I was ask to dispatch them . Both dogs were out in the field and would not come in . I was not sure if at 150 yard the little bullet would take down a dog as big as they were, with a squeeze of the trigger, it was a one shot drop for both of them . The 204 did the job ! Great little bullet .

I've taken quite a few coyotes, gh's and feral things with mine. I use Hornady 26 grain NTX out to 300 yards , most shots usually from 75 to 200 yards. Every single recipient of the tiny pill was a bang flpt drt. I shot one coyote at 400 yards with a factory HSM loading 35 grain Berger flat base hollow point dead on facing me he spun once and flopped sideways with his tail straight up stiff as a board. Longest shot I've ever taken .

I shoot a 20 Practical, not quite a 204 but fairly close and 40gr NBT's have worked very well on coyotes. I have another lighter weight one in the works as I'm liking the 20 cal. on predators. The new one will start using 34gr HP's to see how they do.

I shot out a couple of them when it was first a thing many years ago.
Hornady bullets are bad about splashing, but I didn’t lose many coyotes and never a fox or cat.
Berger hollow points and the Sierra 39 make it a very handy little cartridge.

I use one for my night gun in an AR platform. 32BK, 32 barnes varminator, 40gr vmax factory and now the 40gr BIB. All 3 have been bad medicine on coyotes. Its my favorite gun at night because its fast, flat and pretty easy on the fur.

Dudes. 14+ year old thread. C’mon.
