2024 NBRSA Score Nationals

Gabe Matheny contributed a Hunter style stock and Brett Childress of BC'Z fame laid down a most impressive paint job on it and they donated it to the cause for our shoot. We used this stock as a raffle item to bring in money for the shoot target crew. Between the tip jar and the stock raffle, we raised $1712.00 for the target crew. I did not keep the tip jar money separate but it might have had $300 or $400 in it. So the stock took in between $1,300 and $1,400 in the raffle. A fabulous sum.
Brett, Thank both you and Gabe from the bottom of our hearts for your support of this event. Please convey our sincerest thanks to Gabe if you will.

And thanks to each and every person who bought tickets or fed the tip jar. You all were generous to a fault.

By the way the stock was won by Ed Bernabeo from the Houston, Texas area. Ed, you are now going to have to use the stock and put together a nice Hunter rig and start shooting Hunter as well as VFS.

Joe
Joe, since neither Ed or I shoot HBR, we might build a Rifle on that beautiful stock and then sell it.

I would do all of the machine work, Truing a Remington action, 1-17 twist Krieger or Bartlien, standard zero free bore 30 BR chamber.

Some random pics from Raton:

Joe Duke (rt) and Mike Wall (seated) ran a smooth line calling the VFS and Hunter yardages:

Al, loading your team with three "Hall of Famers" is just almost unfair. Almost but not quite!
Job well done for sure
As much as we'd like to say it was all planned out ;) , it really just happened by accident. Greg was talking with Randy and I and said: "Hey...let's throw together a team." I was the token middle-of-the-packer. The 'Five Lug Nuts' name was a throwback to our 2022 Varmint Team win that you were a big part of. That gave us some Good JuJu.

I did take note of the name.
Doesnt much matter who you are in that crowd. If you dont bring your A game, you are toast. I am already looking forward to next year.

Thanks for the pictures, Al. I’m sure you know where I am now, (it ain’t Raton),:) I can look at the pictures an dream of better days.

And Joe, since you mentioned next year, what’s the scoop.?

Was thinking of you this morning over coffee, Jackie.

As a couple of hot rodders, you'll enjoy my current situation. I make these chillers that circulate ice water through the engine when you need a a few extra hundredths of a second for heads up races or qualifying. I'm just packaging one up now to send to a racer that's will be using it in the 'A/S Challenge' at the U.S. Nationals in Indy in a few weeks. On the blue 396-375 C/S '69 Camaro shown, it was worth almost a tenth. He won the NHRA National event at Brainerd, Mn. using it.

That’s pretty cool, (pun intended.)
I sure enjoyed meeting you in person for the first time, after years of conversations on this Web Site.
i think it is great that after you ”retired”, you can still use those countless years of stored up knowledge helping others be their very best.

I guess you are the epitome of that saying…….”I’m not getting old, I’m getting better”;)

Ditto, Jackie. :)

I was fortunate to be able to retire at a relatively young age from my job at a large hospital. That allowed me to pursue my interests at a level I wasn't able to do with the demands of a profession that required a basic 40 hour week plus 24 hour 'on call' emergency duty, weekends and holidays. But no complaints...even a successful ice cream stand or coffee shop has the same demands.

I guess we both like solving problems.
