The Western Colorado Rifle and Silhouette Club will host the 5th Annual Colorado State Tournament 600 yard Benchrest Match on October 5th and 6th. The range will be open to practice on Friday, October 4th. We will follow Freedom Benchrest rules (see the link below for rules and details about Freedom Benchrest). We will be shooting paper targets, and no electronic targets will be used. We will shoot Light Gun, Heavy Gun and Tactical Rifle events. We have added to the awards categories this year so that there will be awards for 2-day Grand winners for both Light Gun and Heavy Gun in order to recognize those who choose to shoot only in either of these categories.

We will have plenty of water to drink, but lunch will not be provided, so bring your lunch.

I have attached pictures of the redesigned awards for this year incorporating the Freedom Benchrest logo. The powder-coated elk and moose will also be awarded for small group and low score.

We will again have a prize table. Vendors have been very generous in their donations. We have received contributions from the following vendors so far:

Hodgdon Powder
Midway USA
PMA Tools
AMP Annealing
SEB Rests
Ross Reels
Brux Barrels
L.E. Wilson
Pacific Tool and Gauge
Redding Reloading Equipment

Please remember these folks who contribute to our matches when you are deciding who to do business with.

Message me with any questions.

Jerry

We had a great match this past weekend, complete with unseasonably warm weather and mild winds. The conditions showed up in high scores and small groups. We also had an impressive prize table, which just adds to the fun when shooters are rewarded for performance and attendance.

We started off on Saturday with Light Gun. Mike Kiser and Dakoda Pace were best in score and group agg respectively. Dakoda took Light Gun overall.

Next was Tactical, where Cody Lavelett won score and Scott Wilson shot an incredible screamer 5-shot group measuring 0.883', which was very close to a new record. However, we learned that a guy who goes by “Squirrel” (known to many on this forum) had a smaller group and in fact shot a 5-shot group under 0.5" on this same weekend. Congratulations, Squirrel! Freedom benchrest shooters are awesome! Jerry Carter won Tactical Gun overall.

Final class on Saturday was Heavy Gun. Jerry Carter won Score Agg, Group Agg and Overall.

Jerry Carter won 2-Gun.

Sunday brought clear skies with smoke drifting in from California fires. I must say, I have never seen windless conditions at our range like this. Perhaps it was the smoke, but by the afternoon, those wind flags were just hanging. Time to shoot some good targets, and we did not dissappoint.

Heavy Gun was first, with Cody Lavelett shooting best score agg, and Jerry Carter shooting a group agg of 1.780 (a new range record for 4-target group agg at WCRSC).

Tactical followed with Jim Shelley taking score agg and Jerry Carter taking group agg. Jerry Carter won tactical overall.

Finally, Light Gun was dominated by Tim Barber, who won score agg, group agg and overall. Nice shooting, Tim! Looks like I have work to do. Since I can only attach 6 files, I’ll attach 2-Gun results and pictures in a separate post.

I love that you added a two day “Grand” for Light Gun and Heavy Gun,
That is super cool.

Congratulations to all the shooters, it looks like many shot personal bests, which is no small thing!

Thank you Jerry Carter for all of your help and behind the scenes work to make this possible and to Clay Fowler and Shiela Barber for helping with the spreadsheets.
Thanks to our competitors for pitching in to help things run smoothly. Putting on a 2 day state shoot is a lot of work.
What a great 2 days of shooting, I shot my personal best aggs. I have never seen conditions as good as they were on Sunday. If your gun was tuned you had no excuses for not shooting small.

Several range records were broken this weekend.

Awesome prize table this year, thank you Jerry Carter for doing most of the leg work on this.

Thank you to all of the vendors who donated, it was very much appreciated.
