2023 Colorado State Championship 600 yard IBS Benchrest Tournament

@Mulligan I was driving home today and a thought occurred to me; that it is worth sharing what our Closest to the X winner did on day one. I will leave the name out. But donating that entire days pot to the target crew gals was awesome to see. Shows you there’s a great type of folk still out there, even in todays crazy messed up world.
I will echo that statement.
@bbarber25 Thank you for sharing.

Brian,
my perception is, the percentage of good folks is higher in the shooting sports than in many other arenas, Dennis is no exception, solid dude for sure.

I loved seeing you shoot tactical off a bipod with a lower powered scope, that is cool

Sure appreciate seeing the shoot reports with pictures and full naming of all the people in the pictures.

Kind of like Tom Jacob's comment about meeting people he heard of or talked to - naming and seeing who people are is a key component of a super report.

Nice job!

For those of you that overlooked all that is in this pic

Tom was using a Farley rest that has a counter weight system which makes a heavier rifle light as a feather. @majohnson can hook you up with a good cleaning and relube or the counter weight system.

I am not sure what brand of 4" top Tom is using here, but I have a Lenzi top for mine and love it.

The Garmin in the pic is a new radar chronograph that is a fairly new release, I do not have any details other than Tom says it works great.

Hi Clay, that’s just a breeze on the Western Slope, isn’t it?;)
Somewhere around the peak of that wind push, I stepped out out of the score shack to check out the weather.

At that time, David Gosnell was looking down range and commented, how much do I hold for two donut boxes?

I glance down range and reached for my phone to grab this pic.

If the donuts were hijacked by the wind, that may be a record for us.
Make no mistake, it was blustery and the fellas had to contend with a 180 degree wind shift!

You’ll have to put up with this scenery, not much of a view, but the elk call it home. View attachment 1484283View attachment 1484284View attachment 1484285
That’s the “Lone Cone” on the far horizon on the right.

My favorite thing we do when I’m back visiting my uncle and friend Dan is to spend time up on the Mesa. In the fall there is no more beautiful spot on earth.
Speaking of Dan, did you see how he shot in the Utah State Championships? Not bad for an old bird:)

Thanks, it was fun. That rifle shoots way better than it should for my being my old 3000+round Max HV contour F-class gun barrel, took to work reprofiled it to a Rem varmint contour, set it back 2-2.5”, was my first chamber job on a manual. Slapped it onto a 20+ year old 700 with a factory trigger in an MC3 stock, no beddin, and a 20+ year old 6.5-20 VX-III.

Hell it won small group of a match earlier this year. 1.7XX”. I was all sorts of flustered and in my head at the state match. Still shot several groups in the 3’s and one under 3”.

BTW, I can’t wait for freedom to run my suppressor on everything. Now if just F-class would get on board.

That tickles me about the MC3 stock. I bought one of those for a nephew and I put his 6.5 CM factory adl heavy barrel in it, shoots really well.
