Carroll and I got home about 1:30 am Tuesday. I got up early to finish cleaning out the truck and headed to Spickard. I’ve spent just under 45 hours in that truck in the last 6 days and I’m glad to be out of it. I have been overwhelmed by all of the comments, messages and phone calls. Our shooting community is filled with the best humans on this planet. In 2012 Tom Jacobs opened up Vaportrail Valley and a mutual friend of ours introduced us. We immediately hit it off and if not for him I’d probably still be shooting my Savage 22-250 LRPV and trying to hit a 12” steel circle at 500 yards. Poor Carroll would still be shooting a scatter gun. LOL. Our community is small and therefore much like family. I met a lot of new people at Deep Creek and Piedmont and put some faces to names on others that I’ve known in a roundabout way for years. For me, Deep Creek and Piedmont are the prime places to shoot 1k and 600 BR. Both possess the cream of the crop in their respective disciplines and to be able to go into the lions den and shoot well enough to come out on top of the standings at the end of the day is surreal. 4 years ago I was worried that I’d never shoot again but I’ve been blessed to still be here kicking. Thank you to everyone for all your kindness and support and just know that I appreciate it more than you could ever know and I’ll do my best to pass on all the positive energy that I can. It’s been a fun year and I look forward to seeing everyone again.
