2017 F-Class Match Schedule - Bucksnort Shooting Club: Marshall, MO

I'm not even touching any of these "winning score" predictions :). I'll try my best to win...might come in dead last...anywhere in between is o.k. too.

I'm with Greg on this one....The last 2 years the winning scores in FO have been 1598 and 1597...if the extended forecast is any indication mother nature will have a huge say so if either of these scores are repeatable.

BUT there is some damn good shooters showing up, so anything is possible!!

I'm still trying to out shoot the FTR guys with my Fo rig.

For years, I have listened to PGA golf professionals complain about the length of the rough at U.S. Open matches. My take on it has always been this:

a) Within reason, it's the same for everyone
b) If you don't like the long rough, don't hit your ball into it

No one has any way to know what the specific conditions for the MO State match will be like this far in advance, and the conditions will largely dictate the kind of scores that will be posted in either F-TR or Open. There will be many excellent shooters competing for the win in both categories. The good news is that whatever the conditions may be, everyone will see [about] the same range of conditions across the course of the entire match. After that, it's up to the individual to perform at their highest level. Whatever scores it might take to win are purely relative to the conditions, so I don't spend much mental energy speculating on what scores I MIGHT shoot until I get to a match and see what the conditions will actually be. At that point I have a pretty good idea of how well (or badly) I will likely perform. As I said before, I intend to have fun shooting with everyone regardless of whether my score at the end of the match is good or bad. I don't get to shoot very often at matches as well run and with as many fine competitors as this match will have, so I'm going to enjoy it.

BTW - On Sunday July 2, at around 3:00 or so, I will be able to provide anyone interested with a "reasonably accurate" estimate of what scores will be required to win ;).

For all coming to the match: Due to circumstances beyond our control, please do not show up before 5 pm or so on Thursday June 29. Normally I am there by Wednesday before match weekends but have a family obligation Thursday. If you are a Bucksnort member, well then, of course, come whenever you'd like. I am still planning to have all the mowing done on Wednesday. I will be back by Thursday afternoon and we will get you settled in to an RV spot or the bunkhouse.

Unless the weather does something to prevent it (not likely) the range will be open basically all day Friday for sight in, practice, blowing off, or whatever else it is you f-class types do

Note: if you've never been to the fabulous Bucksnort Shooting Club before, the road off Hwy 65 is State Route UU but many maps still show it as just U. Also, most mapping apps take you down a very steep and rocky hill that is just not necessary. Follow whatever your GPS tells you until you are on UU. Then ignore your GPS and stay on UU till the pavement ends and turn left. After that, as they say, "you can't miss it."

Looking forward to seeing most of you, Scott Young, the Range B@$tard

You guy's are starting to intimidate the hell out of me... coming to shoot in your backyard!

In all honesty, it's only our 3rd year and the conditions have varied enough that we are all on pretty even ground at this place. Most of that was just the chickens cackling at Lamey trying to get a rise out of him. Lol he's a mess!
I think I got reloaders elbow from breaking in a barrel in 3 days. Lol Make up block ice guys so it lasts through the match , I just fill a clean bucket and leave it in the deep freezer for 2 days. They have a fridge and freezer in the bunk house if you need to keep food until Sat evening feast or the all important beer cold!

2015 conditions were eeasy peasy if I could right out of the chute in my first match with a borrowed gun shoot the score and earn the classification I did. I hear tell 2016 was a different animal altogether.

About a 25 degree difference is all I remember. Both manageable but we got fried last year with the heat index over 100. I think and hope we have a cooler one this year. Too early to be sure but long-range looks OK so far about upper 80's

Internet scores don't count. You are going to have to shoot to win one of these.

The (door) prize table keeps growing. In the past couple of weeks, I've received the following:
Sightron SIII 10-50X Rifle Scope
Burris XTR 8-40X Rifle Scope
Bushnell and Primos Trail Cameras
2x Tasco Binoculars
Bushnell/Kestrel CONX rangefinder combo

There are also enough hats that everyone can take 2 and walk around like Sherlock Holmes.

I still have 13 spots left. If you are interested in coming, please let me know ASAP.

Ryan... Those are definitely one of the best looking trophies that I've seen. The shooter's that earn them, will be well deserved at a match that this one!

Thanks to you and all the sponsors that you've lined up to donate!

Hey Scott,

Is Route 220 still in bad shape?
I took it once a couple of years ago, as it is a shorter route than taking U or UU, but it (220) was in rather dismal shape.

Thx!
Alex

It wasn't in dismal shape Alex, it was in it's normal shape!! It is a small savings in travel distance, but unless you just hate your suspension it won't prove to be a time savings. We use it when UU is flooded as it sits higher than the lowest point on UU. But when I have a choice, I will always take UU.

Scott

My first time to Bucksnort I followed the GPS down 220. Bout midway down I was wishing I was in my GMC 2500HD Duramax 4×4. I think I bottomed out all four corners of the suspension on my car. Yeah Alex it's a really good short cut. Go for it.:D;)
