2017 F-Class Match Schedule - Bucksnort Shooting Club: Marshall, MO

My first time to Bucksnort I followed the GPS down 220. Bout midway down I was wishing I was in my GMC 2500HD Duramax 4×4. I think I bottomed out all four corners of the suspension on my car. Yeah Alex it's a really good short cut. Go for it.:D;)

Ya, I think they grade that road with a high lift. Was dragging big rocks under my minivan down that hill waiting for the brakes to go out. Lol It is pretty woods in that area if you like a scenic drive! Just got my scales on ready for a long day of loading ammo.
Look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Are cart's needed at Bucksnort? Might have 3 to 4 riding together, won't have room in one truck if we need cart's.

Thanks,
Mike
Mike, you'll need to move your equipment perhaps 50-100 yd or so, depending on your parking spot. Not a killer tote job, but some kind of a cart would certainly expedite the process. I'm sure you could get away with just one cart for everyone and just take turns, if necessary. However, I would also suggest a fold-out table if you can swing it space-wise, or at a minimum, a drop cloth, just in case we any sprinkles and/or to have a work surface.

Last year on Friday evening, the main road was "submerged". So I used that other "road" the whole time. I didn't think it was all that bad, and I particularly enjoyed sharing my Van Halen "morning shooting inspiration" music with the folks down in the holler ;).

Thanks for the info Greg! I'm all about making it as easy as possible! :D

Only a week out for the match now... This is looking like it might be my last match before going to Canada for the World's!

Reality should never get in the way of a story well told. :p:);)

Ryan, will you have forms to join/renew the Missouri Sport Shooting Association ?

You will be able to join/renew your MSSA membership at the range. Be sure it's done before the match starts, Friday if possible. If in doubt, do it as they'll just tack on another year if you are already paid up. If Ryan isn't set up for it I will be able to handle it.

I think the better part of "The Tall Tale of the Access Road" ought to be the Deliverance-esque feel on that last section when you drive down the hill into the deep heavy woods. First time through, I was nervously watching for some kind of SciFi creature to come lunging up out of the underbrush ;).

Do out of state shooter's need to join the MO state association? Do you need to be a MO resident to be the state champion? Most state association's only award a state resident the State Championship.

Just to give you a quick answer since I think they are all out at the range working, mssa awards their high resident at the annual meeting in April. All of what you see will be given out to the winners of the match according to scores. Ryan can refine this answer when he's not so busy.

Thanks for the info Mike! Was just curious about having to join the association and the award's!

I'm sure that Ryan and his crew are busy as hell!

I shot the 2015 match and I'm out of state. I don't recall having to join. I just paid the match fee.

Ryan may certainly contradict me when he is back in internet range, but............

If you are a Missouri resident, and you want to be eligible for "State Championship" awards, you must join the MSSA as an individual. It is not part of your match fees.

If you don't care about MSSA awards and are willing to let someone who shoots a lower score than you be the official state champ, then you do not need to join the MSSA. (Missouri residents)

If you are not a Missouri resident, then none of this matters to you one bit, no need to join to shoot the match or be eligible for match weekend awards, which are decided by score, not residency or membership.

Here is the bottom line:
If you are a MO resident and you claim to care about your 2nd Amendment rights and the shooting sports then good grief join the stinking MSSA! (yes, it has faults but it's the leading show in town) It's $28 a year and most of you have spent more than that on rubber feet for your rest/bipod and dryer sheets for your sandbag.

If you are not a Missouri resident then ignore all of this discussion and I offer my apologies on behalf of all Missouri shooters.

"Missouri, after a few beers it's not all that bad"

Scott means well. He just always sounds grumpy.... lol I thought that would change when he retired, but he's set in his ways. He'll be running the line for the match, so stay out of his way. :D

Every award and prize you will see at the match is open to the shooters that attend, regardless of their home state. The MSSA award is a separate deal, which I would encourage all MO residents to consider, although it is not required.

Sorry(not really) for missing all the posts this weekend. I ran down to the White River for some trout fishing. I believe part of the reason the Arkies are such great folks is they are from one of the most beautiful states in the country.
