2014 Mid/Long Range Match Schedule @ AEDC (Tullahoma, TN)

Shooters,

The club is ready to go for next year. Here is what you need to know (see associated attachments):

1. The preliminary AEDC match schedule for 2014 has been negotiated with the National Guard. As with last year, events may be added or subtracted throughout the year, based on availability. The first long-range match is 1/26 and the first mid-range match is 2/16. These two are both early-season, reduced-cost, weather-permiting "club" matches intended as tune-ups with no scores sent to the NRA. **Note: attachment has been updated**

2. The programs for the Mid and Long-Range matches are basically the same as last year. The first two "club" matches are not listed in the program since there is no formal NRA involvement. The October dates listed in the program are still tentative.

3. The annual MidSouth Marksmen membership drive begins now, and the $40 dues for 2014 must be received by 31-Jan-2014 for renewing members. Just like last year, members in good standing will receive $5 off all NRA Approved (not Club or Registered) matches. This year we are also including a t-shirt with your membership fee. Please be sure to fill out the attached membership form, note your t-shirt size, and mail the completed form with your dues to the address noted at the top of the form. Membership in MidSouth Marksmen is not required to shoot in our matches, but we ask that you join the club to help support the health our beloved sport in the region. Besides, you get a discount on the Approved matches and a t-shirt.

4. We have a new website under construction. Check it out at www.midsouthmarksmen.com. In the near future we will post schedules, results, club info, etc. on the website to keep everyone up to date.

5. Please use the e-mail address midsouthmarksmen [at] gmail [dot] com for correspondence with the match directors listed at the bottom of the schedule. We will all be checking it, and this will make it easier to coordinate everything.

Thank you for your continued support,

Jim Sokolowski

I updated the schedule attached to the first post (v3). We changed the 4/20 date to 4/19 since 4/20 is Easter!

Shooters,

Don't forget - we have our first match of the year at AEDC in two weeks:

Sunday 1/26 - Long Range (weather permitting)
Match Director: Jim Sokolowski
Registration: Opens at 8:00 CST and closes at 8:30 CST
Format: 60 shots for record at 1000 yards, slow-fire Prone & F-Class (3 x 20 x 1000)
Cost: $15 for everyone, MSM member or not. No, I don't have change for your $20 bill ;)
Type: This is an early-season tune up, or "club" match, so scores will not be sent in to the NRA. Hence the reduced cost.

If you arrive much earlier than 7:45, you will be waiting at a locked gate. If you show up after 8:30, you will not be squadded. Unless you are helping run the match or disabled, please do not park in the small parking area next to the pavilion (sign-in area). Park in the larger lot across the street.

Please assume this match is on unless you hear from the match directors, and we cannot guarantee 24-hours notice. If the weather looks sketchy, make the decision that works best for you personally.

See you out there,

Jim Sokolowski
Franklin, TN

It looks like we might make it up to the low 50's on Sunday :). Also, since this is a club "tune-up" match (no scores to the NRA) and we potentially have some new shooters joining us, I am thinking we will allow coaching during the record strings of fire for this particular match, unless anyone objects.

Shooters,

Thank you for joining us for our first MidSouth Marksmen Long-Range match of the year. We had a good turnout with 31 shooters: 8 F-Open, 14 F-T/R, and 9 Sling shooters. The weather was surprisingly nice for January, but the wind was strong and variable throughout much of the day. It made for an interesting challenge and I hope everyone learned something about reading the wind at AEDC.

The full results are attached. The top competitors in each group were as follows:

F-Open
1st Alley, Chris 550-13x
2nd Reavis, Paul 539-2x
3rd Alley, Reagan (Jr) 528-6x

F-T/R
1st Roberts, Clint 560-5x
2nd Taylor, Brad 540-7x
3rd Hanback, Robert 530-5x

Sling w/ Scope
1st Pitts, Howard 586-18x
2nd Colyer, Thomas 570-15x
3rd Kunz, Clyde 564-14x

Sling w/ Irons
1st Sokolowski, Jim 583-23x
2nd Perry, Laura 545-8x
3rd Kreier, Tim 541-9x

The next MidSouth Marksmen matches are Sat 2/15 (Across-the-Course) and Sun 2/16 (Mid-Range). Registration for all MSM matches opens at 8:00 and closes at 8:30 (Central Time).

See you next time,

Jim Sokolowski

Club match means a "tune-up" with a $15 entry fee and no scores to the NRA. See you there (weather permitting). Assume the match is on unless you hear from Tim.

If anyone is interested in joining our e-mail distribution list for updates (we use bcc only) please send an e-mail with your first and last name to midsouthmarksmen [at] gmail [dot] com

Any restrictions on ammo? Do you have to single load each round or can you use a SLED?
