20 VT Twist

I'm contemplating rebarreling one of my Savage M12's to 20 VT. I've an opportunity to have a barrel chambered that has a 1:10 twist. Does anyone shoot a 20 VT in 1:10? If so is there any downside when shooting the lighter 32g bullets?

thanks,

Randy

You'll be fine with a 10. There are a couple good threads on here on the subject that have proof and pictures for twists as fast as 1:9. Also check out Saubier or small caliber club for more proof about faster twists.

Bonus, the faster twist makes small animals blow up better.

Agree with Prose, in that a 10 twist 20VT would work just fine. My 20VT is a 12T, but one of my 204R's is an 11T and it thrives on the 32's, so I can't imagine a ten twist not being entirely suitable for a 20VT shooting the same bullet weight.

I have a CZ-527 204 with 12" twist , what twist rate for needed for 50gr bullets ? Also anyone familiar with Bull berry Barrel works ?

The Berger Twist Calculator says the 10 twist is superior to the 11 twist for both 32 and 40 grain Vmax. I have two Vartarg barrels with 11 twist and my next one will be a 10.
