Hi

What velocity can be reached with 32 and 40 grain projectiles with the 20 VT? 3800fps for the 32's and 3600fps for the 40's?

How will a 26" barrel go with this small case?

What method are people using to form cases from 222? I have heard just using a 221FB FL die and then the 20VT FL die? Does this work well? Or are you using forming dies? If so, which ones?

I plan on using a Remington XR100 as the donor rifle for a varminter out to 300m in 20Vartarg!!

I would use 223 brass rather than 222. I have had issues with uneven neck thicknesses using 222 to form the cases -- the neck is formed half from the shoulder and half from the neck of 222. Lapua match 223 or winchester 223 have thin case walls so I can form 221FB and not need to turn the necks.

I go straight to 221FB with the FL die and imperial die wax with no problems.

I use 221FB brass with a 20VT die. No need to run it though the 221 die. Im getting some tight groups under 1/2 in using 18.2 grs of 4831. I hope to chrono tomoorw with 32 grs so Ill let you know who fast its going.

Is there no problem just running them throug the FL die?

Correct, I just run the cases thru a Redding Type-S die with the decapping rod/button removed. I use a coating of Imperial applied with my fingers and I have never lost a case. After sizing I trim them to length then run them thru the die one more time with the button to neck size. Load and shoot.

BTW: for the 221 shooters, the SAMMI min spec for chamber length is a little over 1.430 inches -- I trim to 1.425 inches. Remington brass is around 1.380 which makes it hard to get to the lands with 40-50g bullets without the bullet falling out.
