Forming 221 Fireball brass into 20VT brass

Yes Sir, was VERY happy with how it turned out. Defensive Edge has built me some outstanding shooting rifles, the worst one of all that they've built me shoots in the .3's.

If there is a next time I buy 221 brass, it'll be Lapua and I'll be turning it as 221 Fireball, then necking it down, that way the lower neck becomes part of the shoulder when at 20 cal and it necks down easier since the brass in the neck is thinner.

Hi Folks, any one have advice for forming 221 FB brass into 20 VT brass?
Planning on using redding 20VT FL S bushing die for this.

I use lapua 221 brass and run it through a redding 20VT FL sizing die.. Not a FL bushing die. The bushing die leaves a donut. then use a 20 cal expander mandrel to open the necks a tad.

buy a regular ol FL die run em all through it then fire form... if your neck fits.. if it chambers its good... it aint hard to form

Hmm thanks. Do you know what the brass life (Lapua) on this cartridge is? Im mostly looking at making mild loads to practice prone shooting at 100 yards.

i have 9 firings on my Lapua 221 FB necked to 20 VT in a 237 neck and it's just fine. Still shooting it
