20 Tac just finished Chambering

I just now finished my new Long Range Groundhog rifle. Rem 700 action with Lilja Rem varmint 12 twist 3 groove 24 inch barrel in 20 Tac. I will be testing loads in it tomorrow. Chambered with a PTG 20 Tac .234 Neck zero Freebore reamer. Hopefully it will be as accurate as the 20 Tacs I've shot in the past.

Your going to love the 20 TAC. Mine sports a Hart barrel with a 1-10 twist. Using Rel 10x with the 40gr. Vmax's.

Keep us posted on it.

Some 12 twists like the 39 grain BK's and some don't. Try some 32's or even some 40 grain ballistic tips. Also some H322

Try IMR 8208 or if you can get your hands on any, try AA2520...I have found these to work extremely well with the 39gr Sierra and Rem 7 1/2 primers. My 20Tac is a 12 twist.

LT 30 23+ gr with 32 gr sierras shoots very well in my 11 tw. H4198 and 10 x good performers. Note of caution...IMR 4198 is quite a bit hotter than H4198.

You will love the 20 Tac. I had one in the past and my friend has a 20 Tac with Hart barrel that shoots lights out with 39 sierras and the old benchrest 8208 powder. Gene Anderson I have 1 LB of IMR8208xbr on the way to try as well. It will be Saturday before I test any more loads in my new Lilja 20 Tac.

Try some VV N-133 with the 39gr Blitzkings. 25.3 grains works well in all three of my 20 TAC's. And if you want the best accuracy get some Berger 40gr. Target/Varmint bullets; scary accurate. John Kruzan

+1 on using N133 with the 39 gr BK's

My Tac is on a Remington action with a 1 in 10 Lother Walther tube. I am using 24.4 gr of N133 seating the bullet 223 thou (yes 223) back from the lands and this will consistently shoot sub .2 in the right weather conditions.

As with all accurate ammo, case prep is key

Tested some more bullets and powders in my new 20 Tac. I used brand new 20 Tac Lapua cases and Fed 205 Match and Rem 7 1/2 BR primers.
Bullets used were 32 Sierra, 35 Berger, 39 Sierra , 40 Vmax and CRT hollow point

Powders used
IMR 8208 XBR
Vihta N130
Vihta N133
Vihta N135
H4198

Best groups were in the .1 to .2 range with N130, N133, IMR 8208 with either 32 sierras or 35 Bergers. 39 sierras shot several 5/16 to 3/8 groups . I will test more loads soon to see what I will stick with for summer Groundhog Hunting. Thanks to all for your help

HBS, From one old groundhog hunter to another........AA2520 and the 39 grain Sierras do the deal a long ways out there!! 27.0 grains with Federal 205 Match primers is tough to beat. And you know the GHD load for the 204Ruger was 27.5 grains of AA2520. My Cooper 21 with the 26" barrel is running 70 more FPS with 1/2 grain less powder than the Savage VLP with the 26" barrel in 204R. The Cooper also has no problem with the same load and the 40VMAX!! Good to know if heading to a dog town!! Sierras cost a SIGNIFICANT amount more if shooting hundreds versus the few shots we get at groundhogs. You know the TAC can shoot groundhogs all the way from Gillespie's over to Fisher's!! Don't be shooting my targets! Hahahahahahaha. PM me your phone number and email. I lost it. Charlie (GHD). PS: I won't shoot them on Gillespies from Fisher's either.
