20 caliber Cartridges

JORTZ, yes Im playing with the new 20SCC cartridge. I was the one that did the test chamber for this cartridge. As of right now I am chambering 4 barrels for buddies that want to try it. Its impressive little cartridge, I was able to push a 32gr bullet over 4000 with 2200 powder with no problem. There is a bunch of info on the Small Caliber Club forum, check it out.

Thanks Bob ill go check it out . That impressive to get 4000 fps out of a 32gr bullet with little powder compared to a 204 ruger.

I recently finished up a 20 VT XP-100 with a 16" 1-11 twist barrel. Shoots in the 2's & 3's with 30 gr Bergers, 32 gr V-maxes, 39 gr SBK's, and 40 gr V-maxes. Took it out on it's first rock chuck hunt a couple of weeks ago. We killed four over 450 yards with it, and the longest at 512. We were shooting 32 gr V-maxes w/ 19.0 grs. of H4198 and lighting it with BR-4's. Chronographed right at 3500 fps. The 20's are definately addictive :) We are going out again this weekend and my buddy is going to be shooting his tac20. (also an XP-100). The great thing is you can shoot these rigs with rifle scopes without needing a muzzle brake. The bigger guns will be getting a lot of bench time this year!
Way to much fun...

I looked at the .20VT Ackley Imp. but decided to build a .20 Bobcat instead....

Lapua hadn`t yet confirmed the .221 brass so the .222 case won out..

Neck it to .20 and fire form an Ackley shoulder......whammo .20 Bobcat......Sexy.... 8)

That and a .20 PPC are my two current .20`s...

Had a .204 and a .20BR......NEVER should have sold the .20BR....

Never missed the .204..

I have a pile of .20 Tac. brass too but it is just waiting for the right moment..

.20`s are FUN!!!!!

mine is a 20 vartarg in a tc encore 16 1/4" mgm heavy factory barrel. it shoots around .2-.3" at 100 yards with 3 shots. ;D
it uses 32gr nosler varmagedon with 18.6gr of h4891. next i'll try the 34gr varmint nightmare, and the 32gr hornady vmax.
its hard being a reloader!!! 8)

I have kicked around the idea of a 20-222 rem but, just haven't done it yet. I think it would be one hell of an accurate cartridge? Started out with a 22-250 then went to a .243 win and now I have a 25-06 in the works. I keep going bigger in bullet diameter instead of smaller for some reason?

Mike

I have been tossing around a 20-222 for a mid - short range coyote gun. Light weight and as inexpensive as I can put together LOL. (retirement stinks)

Dumbed into a couple hundred 20-222 Lapua and Norma pre-formed brass so I guess I should get on it before long.

I like all the 20s but this one just fits my "old timer" thoughts and brings back memories of years carrying the straight 222 out and about decades ago.

God Bless

I just think it would be an accurate cartridge? With the inherent accuracy of the 222 rem how can one go wrong? Good luck with your build!

Yep,
The 20 Caliber is about as good as it gets, for me, when it comes to Varmints and Predators. I have 5- 20 Turbo Rifles (222 case necked down to 20, body blown out and shoulder blown forward to 30 degrees) including 3 Stiller Predator Actions and two 20 Tac Rifles....I have used them for Ground Hogs out to 580 yards and for Prairie Dogs out past 600 yards. The little Turbo has taken many Coyotes and every one I hit, died in its tracks or very quickly...There are some excellent bullets available today in 20 bore, and quality barrels are being made by several barrel makers...There is a lot to like this great caliber..... George

I've slowly been addicted to the 20's. Three 204' s in bolt guns. AR's in 20 PRACTICAL and 20 TACTICAL. Bolt guns in 20 LBC and 20X6.8. They make great PD hammers.

check out the 20 Killer Bee for more fun than should be permitted by law.

.20 Duster also gets my pick. I have a greg tannel built Sako -75 on this one.

Hi guys we are new to this forum. We are getting ready to build a .20BR & a VarTarg. to try out. We will be using a Lilja 3 - groove 12 Twist barrel, for the 32gr sierra boat - tails bullets .. The Reamer we are using is a Dave Kiff PTG the reamer spec's for our .20BR is a standard neck and no Free Bore. Thanks Cody & Kathy from Kansas united states. Yes I have had a 20 Caliber fever for a very long time too.

Welcome to the .20 club, I think you'll like it here.

I have a .204R and a .20VT now. A .20 Prac/Tact is on my short list of next builds.

They are just about perfect for PDs.

Love my 20s. Started shooting my TAC20 in Sept 2005. Since then have added the 20/250 and the 20/250AI, plus one more TAC 20. All repeating bolt actions. Mostly shoot 40 and 50gr Bergers. Carl L.

Hi, for some reason I just cann't pull up the website...please tell me a little about the 20 scc.....very gratefully, ken
