20 nosler

This is kind of interesting, Nosler has bought the domain name 20nosler.com. Guess that's going to be their new cartridge for this year.

20nosler.com

at ~95% the capacity of the 6BR, I would assume performance would be somewhere between a 20ppc and 20BR. So 4100 fps with a 40 and 3600fps with a 55, but not sure you could mag feed the 55s.

Just because the case has the capacity doesn't mean it will provide the velocity. There is a point of diminishing return especially with the17 and 20 caliber cartridges.

If the case capacity is between the 20PPC and the 20BR which are two already established cartridges then yes it will provide the velocity. There is no reason it shouldn't.

This sounds like a very interesting case,I like rebated cases.Look how popular the 284 and all its siblings are.My 20 BR easily pushes 40s along at 4000fps with no pressure signs it could do 4100 but I like the accuracy at 4000.VolDoc killed a pd at over 1000 yards with a 20BR and 55s going 3600-3650fps.These are long barreled rifles,if your intent is to use this new case in an AR type rifle I would fully expect velocites to be down a bit.

What would be really great would be if Nosler builds this and offers rifles with factory 9 twist barrels,it would pave the way for a poly tipped bullet of
between 48-50 grains in 204 diameter, then we would have a dynamite cartridge. They can do it if they want:)

Yes, all of this

A 20 nosler - assuming it added a solid 200+ fps for a given bullet would be attractive. If it added 400 fps it would be so attractive it would be borderline gun porn lol.

You guys got me thinking,I think I will build a 20Nosler on an XP-100,18"
barrel, center grip.It would be just as fast as any AR and hell on varmints
and I won't have to change bolt face either.Hell I might even make an AR too for fun.

So I have a 20SS (Nosler) built on a remington 700 with a 19" barrel 1:9 twist suppressed. Working on powder for the 55grain berger bullets. I'm getting around 3300-3400 fps right now. Reloading some different powders tomorrow. Really want to get to that 3500 fps. with a short barrel. Trying to beat the good old 204 ruger that I have with a fast twist 1:9 barrel that shoots lights out. I will keep you guys posted

Thanks for the real world info, do you think if you had a 24 or 26 inch barrel you'd get up that high?

also are those max loads or accuracy loads?

JMO but to get to 3500 with a 55 is going to take a mighty fast bbl and a tonne of brass for one shot use without a small primer. REALLY be mindful when the velocity plateaus.
Just sayin'

It has a small primer pocket. I realize how hard the feet may be. I have several twenties. 20 titan, 204 ruger, 20XC, 20-250 rem. I love to call and kill coyotes. So I'm looking for the best I can do with a short barrel. For ease of hunting with suppressors. I will keep everyone posted

I do believe you can get the higher velocity with a longer barrel, you can use a little slower powder. And that would allow you to push them a little easier.

I would love to see this as a factory offering. I had two 20brs and mid 3500s with 27" barrels was pushing the brass pretty hard.

Looks like .090"longer than the 22Nosler probably good for another grain of powder and more speed. If Nosler makes a nice 50 grain poly tipped bullet for this I will be in love:)

Sorry guys I mis spoke my 20AR is .030" longer than the 20 Tactical and it is good for 1 more grain of powder given the same body diameter, the 20Nosler is .087" longer in body length than the 22Nosler which would allow at least 2to 3 full grains more powder.,its body diameter is larger too.
This new 20 Nosler really is gonna kick some Varmint ass:D
