20 cal guys

I‘m late to this but I was a member of Saubiers for a long time. There was some really good people over there with a wealth of info. I relied on them a lot to help me through my first build, a .20 Practical. But this place is as good as it gets with info concerning all things accurate shooting. Okay I’ll quit rambling but I have a technical question. How do you get the 39 gr. TNT to shoot well? I have a fair amount of them but can’t get any decent groups from them doing the normal load development. I really had high hopes for this bullet. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

Start them .005 into the land? Then adjust .003 at a time in.
What cartridge? Powder and primer?
Also what barrel twist rate? And type of rifle. Bolt or ar? Have you shot any other bullets in it that has shot good? Meaning, is the rifle capable of shooting a good group? New barrel? Break in time? Brass? There are so many questions that need answers in order to help pin down accuracy issues.

You may just have to bite the bullet and sell them. FWIW i had some but they were nowhere near as good as 40 Vmax out of my TAC20, Lilja 1-11 bbl, running fairly hot.

I have a 20p with a hart barrel. I wanted to try the 39 tnt because they're cheaper for rock chucks. I had some wc844 (h335 equivalent) with cci400s. I got ~3/4" which is plenty for me with minimal (virtually none) load development. I'm not sure what your threshold is but they shot well enough for me. I'm not sure if that helps any.

Both of my rifles are .20 Pracs with 11 twist barrels That are well broken. I use LC brass for the most part and do all the necessary prepping except neck turning. I did however neck turn a few just to shoot the 39 BK, 40 Vmax and Berger to see what it would do. All groups together went into the mid 3’s. One gun does not care for the Vmax and the other slightly likes the 450 over the 71/2. For the most part my loads are close to interchangeable but I do keep them separate. These are my primary high volume PD rifles so I like 1/2” or a little better.

I miss researching on Saubier…
Some info on here.. just not as much…
There was a lot more information on Saubier, the amount of .17cal info and Hornet case info was fantastic.
You could always find the answer to your questions by searching, and if you couldn't then ask the question and someone would provide the answer or direct you to it.

I had a friend tell me yesterday that he's putting together a 17-.223. I'm like what? He doesn't really know how to reload.

If he does' reload I would do the .17 Rem.
.The .20 has some very good bullets .
The Glory days of .17 and .20 caliber bullets selection are sadly past us.
