20-221AI

Mr Magoo swapped out his 1” tube 6.5-20x leupold-

Installed his NF comp onIMG_7554.jpeghere’s 5@100yd
Then went to 200yd to see where the hold was-IMG_7555.jpeghere’s 5@200yd

& 300yd is just as huge!!!

Guess I’ll load up 50rds now, about burnt through these 25 rds sight in & plinking sweet gum balls..

So I just took my loaded Cooper 39gr BK loads, I worked & loaded last yr….thinking they would be a starting point, possibly already set up.
19.9gr LT32 - 39BK .002” jam-205M primer

I played w/ the seating depth some- nothing to prove on there- played with the powder charges- same thing- didn’t realize I already had the load…IMG_7624.jpeg

It’ll find a home in a tractor, combine, semi truck, gator, jeep.. where the other one isn’t…

This was originally a 221FB… it does feed find from the mag.. had a few hiccups from the start, since action was new..little polishing the claw, look out !!! It’ll run now..View attachment 16340265@100yd -target… View attachment 16340285@200yd- target

Yeah I believe it’s gonna shoot.., feed, extract from the 221FB magazines…
Years ago, late 1980's I believe, there was an articlee in Precision Shooting about a .221FBI.....221 FireBall Improved. Haven't been aware of it since then until now. A 20 Vartarg Improced seems the perfect .20 cal. Yours appears to hold a little more powder, but also more trouble to make. A friend rechambered a so-so shooting Rem. 700 / 221 with my reamer and it became very accurate. And made brass from, I believe, LC .223 brass....much stronger. Hotter loads and picked up a good amount of velocity. If I were wanting to go .20 cal.your cartridge would be my choice.

An Awesome guy sent me some perfect brass for my new CZ barrel-
#1- is to deburr the flash hole
#2 is to run it through the 221FB form die- push shoulder back to a “crush fit” in the chamber-IMG_7680.jpegIMG_7679.jpegIMG_7681.jpegIMG_7683.jpegIMG_7682.jpegIMG_7683.jpegIMG_7684.jpeg

Now I’ll trim them to finial length-IMG_7706.jpegIMG_7704.jpegIMG_7705.jpegmy max OAL chamber length is 1.4320”-
KNOWING the brass will shrink as the 40* shoulder is formed
- the shoulder blows forward & outwards-

Also I I annealed the cases after this stage-

Now to anneal-

Burn one for analysis- to get a code
Then use the code to finish the rest-

Kinda funny how this code is the very exact same for my Lapua 221FB & Lapua 222 brass I made into this same case…
IMG_7713.jpegIMG_7715.jpegIMG_7716.jpegIMG_7717.jpeglet them cool off-

Now I chamfer & deburr 1 last time-
I use a Redding primer pocket cutter- not sure of the factory set depth- it doesn’t even touch Lapua pockets… so I’m pretty sure it doesn’t take much out, just true it up mostlyIMG_7690.jpegIMG_7688.jpegIMG_7692.jpegIMG_7693.jpegIMG_7694.jpeg

Now to prime and load them-
I’m using IMR 4227 -15.2gr
The Supertrickler makes easy work

Don’t be eyeballing my custom cup.. I made…
IMG_7720.jpegIMG_7718.jpegIMG_7719.jpeg

I use Wilson arbor dies- cut with my reamerIMG_7721.jpegIMG_7723.jpegIMG_7723.jpegIMG_7721.jpegone can make a dummy rd to find the lands-
Therefore I can set my die up to jam the bullet .005” into the lands- for futher assurance of keeping the cartridge tight in chamber…
