195 Bergers

Cows?? They planned on mooving with all that racket causing them to lose the Borden Contract for not being contented enough.....:);)

From what Ive heard, guys have said theyre not worth it in the 284 win/shehane cause by the time you get them fast enough to be worthwhile the primer pockets blow out due to pressure. However Ive built over thirty 28 noslers so far this year alone and they have been built specifically for the 195 berger going 3100+ fps. Customers have sent me numerous groups in the .0s, .1s and .2s moa wise with the ones Ive built them. My opinion is only use them in bigger magnums. Last week alone I got 2 groups from different customers that had .5-.6 inch groups at 400 and 480 yds. These were sub 10lb rifles with scopes.

They really shine with RL33 in the 28 Nosler.

Last fall, my wife and I used the 195's in my 284 Shehane on several hunts. Two 400# Russian boars, a heavy whitetail buck, 6x6 elk, a hybrid sheep and an aoudad all dropped where they were hit. Shots ranged from 50-150 yards away. Bullet performance was very good, total destruction of the vitals on each animal. I had great accuracy out of a 1-9" twist at 900 ft of elevation. I don't recall the speed but I would guess around 2650-2700fps.

I now have experience with four different 28 Noslers, all running between 3080fps and 3200fps. Accuracy, lack of wind drift, and energy on target (based on penetration on steel targets, all the way out past 1000 yards) are amazing.

For what it's worth my 7wsm 9 twist didn't to have enough gas to justify going away from the 180g. My 180g load is 60g of 4831SC, so I put 3 195's on the same load knowing that would be pushing the max. The 195's could not shoot as flat at 1K as I can shoot the 180's. Going by memory I lost 2-3 feet of vertical.

Anyone tried them in 7mm Rem Mag? Powder, velocity?
x_wolf,
Customers have been reporting good success with the 7mm 195 EOL with their 7mm Rem Mags. What is the barrel twist rate of your rifle ? Our OPTIMAL twist rate ( based on a worst case scenario of 59 degrees at sea level) for the 7mm is 1-8. We do have load data worked up for the 7 Rem Mag and the 195. Please feel free to contact us at techsupport@bergerbullets.com on this.
Take care,
