185 hybrid in 308 win

I'd like to have my barrel on my 308 FTR rifle throated out for heavier bullets at the end of this season. Currently it has a .050 freebore and I am shooting 155.5 gr berger Fullbore bullets, with good success. I've learned a lot about reading wind by shooting 155gr bullets for the past two seasons, and I think it's time to graduate to a bullet that cuts through it a bit better considering is shoot at Rattlesnake Mt. In Tri Cities WA which has some of the most brutal winds in the country (40 mph is not uncommon). I think I'd like to go to a 185gr bullet and I'm interested in using the 185gr berger hybrid. Can anyone comment on how forgiving these bullets are to seating depth? Any know great load combos for this bullet. I'm really trying to weigh the benefit of the 185 hybrid vs the 185gr juggernaut, so any comments on either bullet are appreciated. Thanks.

Having gone the same route you should know that the difference in 'wind bucking' amounts to about 1 moa @ 1000 yds.. I found that the increased recoil in the sling contributed to more fatigue which, in the end, was not worth it to me. You will still have to read the wind correctly. Having shot at Rattlesnake I feel your pain! Seems every western long range I have shot is it's own nightmare (117 range at Pendleton, Tri-Counties range in Cuyama, CA, COSSA range at Bend, OR, etc.).
There is no magic pill with a .308 @ 1000. Now another barrel in 6.5x284 may interest you more!

Those .050" freebore was standard palma95 chamber which specific design for shoot 155gr.

If you tried to shoot 185 with your chamber, you have seat bullet deeper into the case. Maybe COAL 2.810"

185 LRBT less sensitive seat depth when compare with 185 Hybrid.

My FTR rifle from Whidden Gunworks chamber with custom reamer (Palma95 + .150" freebore) shoot superb with COAL 2.860"

I know there is no magical pill for shooting ftr, but I would like to try to start taking advantage of a better bc bullet. 1 moa difference in wind drift is quite a bit. That's the difference between an 8 and a 10.

If you're shooting a 1:12 the Hybrid 185 might work, but 1:11 would be a safer bet. Juggs sometimes will shoot in a 1:13 but I doubt the Hybrids will in that they're 0.082" longer.

I ordered a reamer from PTG specifically for the 185 Jugg and it has a .168" freebore. I've shot many of the Berger hybrids in different calibers, and they all seem to like .020-.030" jump, and aren't too picky. Hope this helps.

When I had my F/TR rig chambered, my first thought was hybrid only.....well after about 500 rounds with the hybrids, trying to different powders and 2 different primers, lots of seating depths, I was still getting some vertical. Switch over to the Juggs and went back to Varget with Fed 210 match primers and bam. I'm hold 3/8 moa vertical out to 600, and around 1/2 MOA out to 1000. Try the Juggs with Varget between 44.0-44.6 grs in Lapua brass with a Federal 210M and the bullet seated roughly 0.015" off the lands.

I found both the Hybrid and LRBT to do well. My best scores were with the 185 Hybrid. Shot extremely well at 1000 for my standards. It only had a 0.090 freebore too. Now I am trying the 200s and it is showing promise. Still have to shoot it in match

I was at 44gr with the Hybrid. And 44.3 with the LRBT. Using LR Lapua brass and Wolf primers

To me the Hybrids tuned themselves in very little time. The LRBT took a few extra sessions to tune them in
