180Gr. JLK's..

I just received my 1000 count box of 180gr. JLK's. I went thru several of them, checking the base to ogive of the bullets. Almost ALL were exactly at 0.815. A few were 0.8145 and only 1 was 0.8140! These things are unreal in consistency. I weighed a handful, on my A&D FX-120I, and the "lightest" was 179.96 and the heaviest was 180.08..
I looked at the "nose / point" and they are almost "closed up".. Very little variation in the apparent "size" of the hollow-point. They are so perfect that "sorting" them would just be a waste of time.. Now, in the next 2-3 weeks, I need to develop a load for them in my Shehane. However, since I have a good grasp of where it shoots with the 180 Hybrids and the 180 Scenar "L"'s, load development should be a breeze. I want to be ready for our TSRA /LR (Texas State Rifle Assn.) State Championship and the following Lapua /LR Regional Championship at Bayou Rifles..

How long is the wait on the JLK's?

It depends on when he does his "run"... I believe he does 2 runs per year of each caliber / weight.. However, I am NOT sure about that. Mine were on order for 3 months. I have an order in for 1000 105gr'ers that will be about 2 months away. I placed them on order the same time as I did the 7mm's.. Call him at his number listed on his web-site. He will give you "as close as possible" guesstimate when he will get to more..

I thought you had to buy them through a 3rd party now.

1Shot (on here) is GOING to be a distributor. However, I do not think that has actually materialized yet. T-Rust me, for the time being, call Swampy!

What in the world is the matter with you . Ive been shooting JLKs for years in my 6.5 and my 7, and I always tell everyone they are crap. Soon you wont be able to find them and it wont be my fault.

He (Swampy) is in the process of making some sort of an expansion. He will have MORE bullets MORE often! I want his business to succeed and excel>>>that way we will have a steady stream of some of the best bullets on the market! It is just a matter of perspective!

The 6mm 105gr vld are shocking also.... ;)

I have 1000 of them on order right now.. I used them in my "old" Dasher. I will give them a run in my "new-er" Dasher when I get hold of them... They were "off-the-scale" incredible in that Dasher.. Sadly, my first (old) Dasher has bit the dust. It is in the shop getting a new barrel as we write!

I have a couple of hundred still on the reloading bench and about to order another 500 through the Aus agent. Weight variance and bearins surface variance in these make bergers look average and 100ct boxes of sierras look like they should be in the seconds boxes.... Looking forward to my next 1000ydBR

OK, since ShootDots let the cat out of the bag, Swampy and I are in the final stages of putting together a network dealership. I will have an add on here so you can contact via www for a complete detailed info of the services. Not only will you get your bullets faster, but my main line part of my operation is complete brass prep. My web master is working on it now and I was hoping to have everything up and running before announcing it. Neck turning being a strong point as I re-built an Atlas lathe with a 4 jaw chuck to hold Neilson Pumpkins with carbide mandrels in 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm and .308. On my own brass, I have held .00025 on Lapua necks. All other brass prep functions as well as annealing are available. Stay tuned for more info.
Thanks SD,
Lloyd

They are the most consistent made bullet I have ever shot. Accuracy using the 210 vld in my .300 Lapua was outstanding. The 180 in my 7saum is fantastic. I may try them in my .284 Shehane, right now I'm loaded down with 168 smk's.

The 180 jlk shoots 40-50 slower than the 180 hybird.ALso the bc is not as great as the hybird. They do shoot well thou.
