139-142gr. at 2850fps

Which one of the following calibers: 6.5x45, 6.5x55 or .260Rem. is the "easiest" to achieve 2850fps with the 139-142gr. bullets?

Your input is appreciated!

Thanks!

If 'easiest' means at lowest pressure, then the answer is the largest case of the three. Isn't that the 6.5-284?

6.5x55 would be my choice. I have a 260 and a 6.5x55 and shot the barrels out of a couple of 6.5x284s and I have to honestly say that mine did not shoot all that well at slower speeds.

The 6.5x284 seemed to really like the bullets at around the 2950+ range in my guns. Not saying that some others may not shoot them well slower. This was just my experience.

I am shooting 139s out of my 6.5x55 at around the 2800+ range not sure since I haven't had a chance to cronograph it since I backed the load down some. It was shooting to within .5moa for adustments of my 6.5x284 and I did not want to shoot the barrel out of it like I did with the 284s.
