My 6.5x47 Lapua reamer is a .290" neck, .175" freebore and works well with 120-140 gr. bullets.

You have to turn necks with a .290" neck.

Thanks Erik, with a .175 freebore where will the base on the bullet seat in relationship to the neck shoulder junction on the case, using the 140 Berger Hybrid? I do understand different bullets will seat different in the case. With regard to the Berger 140 Hybrids, I was told optimum performance you would like the base of the bullet where the neck starts and not seat lower if possible... I don't have a clue.
With a .290 neck what would be your loaded round/ bushing? Is there a preferred clearance? Thanks JBO

The .175" freebore will put the bearing surface above neck/shoulder junction.

Erik,

What is your OAL to tip with the 140 hybrid touching the lands. Mine has a fairly long throat and just curious how it compares to yours.

I don't shoot hybrids, I've only shot 136's and 139's out of it. But the way my 139's seat, I know where the hybrids will be.

With 139's OAL is 2.775"
Should be close to 2.800" with 140 hybrids.

My load for 6.5X47 Lapua using 139 Scenars is 42 gr. Reloader 17. I have a .200" freebore and my COAL is 2.850", this might be a very hot load in your gun if not throated really deep like mine. I have a 28" bbl and the velocity is 2925 fps.

Is that with an 8 twist Barrel Erik?

I hope this helps
I loaded a box each 50 rds. with the same bullets 139 gr. Lapua scenars with all the same processed brass. 1st fifty with H4350 2nd fifty I had to change the powder measure for the 2nd powder IMR 4350 all 40 gr. of powder @ 500 yds. I shot targets with six bullseyes I shot each one two sets of targets. Total of 24 targets. The targets were 3in. orange with lines to a ten ring I had no chance of seeing. I cannot say one did better than the other I guess I am not that good a shooter. I made mistakes on every target. They were all less than 2in. @ 500 yds.
Regards
Bob
