115 DTAC Nose Ring BC

Terminal velocity from a 7 twist for a standard bullet is about 3000 ft per second which would put you at about 320,000 RPM.

Too much twist IMHO.

But the good news is is that you could switch to the DTAC and it has a thicker jacket and you probably won't have any failures. I've seen Tubb shoot them pretty darn fast.
This is my plan haha!! Im hoping the DTACs will be fine. I want to keep them at no more than 2900ft/s. The 108 ELDMs that I shoot are at 2930ft/s, and they are shredding jackets about 50-100y after they leave the barrel. This only happens on hot days though, as the pressure and velocity has gone up.

115 DTACS in 6 XC at 2950 no issues.

I stopped using them a while back.
Had too many groups that had a weird flyer.
So if you do get some, I'd measure and sort.
Do you think that putting that ring into the brass would
cause early jacket failures under normal to higher RPM's?

I plan to sort the rounds before loading. I'm hoping these bullets work good, and will eventually find out. As far as the groove in the jacket, I'm not sure about jacket failure. I do know that I have not read anything about it happening with DTACs, but it doesn't mean it can't happen.

I have been shooting dtacs with nose ring exclusively for 3 yrs. Depending on what I am loading them for, they run an average muzzle velocity of 3002 on one load and 3148 on the other load. My barrel is a 1:7 Schneider P5 atr profile. In 2 barrels and about to spin up my third I have never had a DTAC jacket seperate, only on A-Tips. This is just my experience ymmv but hopefully not.

Hey everyone,
I know that the Tubb 115 DTAC without the nose ring lists a .620 G1 BC, but Tubbs website does not list a BC for the 115 DTACs that have the nose ring. I tried contacting them, but nobody replied to my email or picked up the phone. I'm looking to possibly purchase some of these, and am just looking for an accurate BC. Thanks!
David has stated the the B.C. of the nose ring version is a tick lower in exchange for increased consistency. B.C. is velocity dependent, so it's just something you'd need to true up. Start with the B.C. of the normal DTAC, expect it to hit a tick lower on target.

This is good to know. I'm running a 1:7 MPA barrel, but will be loading around 2850-2900. Thank you!

That was my understanding ... Cortina did an interview with Chase Stroud on ELR shooting and he mentions the same thing... Slight BC reduction mentioned about 1:25:30 into the conversation.

620 , nose ring doesn't affect bc

I have shot them to 3100fps with no jacket failures and no weird flyers. If I do my job so does the bullet. I do measure and sort though.

With some continued testing of the DTAC 115 Nose Ring TBN coated bullet below in my 243AI I'm thinking these bullets must be very consistent. Did an E C V2 tuner test and found a very wide window tune cluster of 5 settings. Groups were @ .157 and tighter in this area of the tuner.
