115 DTAC Nose Ring BC

Hey everyone,
I know that the Tubb 115 DTAC without the nose ring lists a .620 G1 BC, but Tubbs website does not list a BC for the 115 DTACs that have the nose ring. I tried contacting them, but nobody replied to my email or picked up the phone. I'm looking to possibly purchase some of these, and am just looking for an accurate BC. Thanks!

It was my understanding the nose ring was for changing the terminal performance of the bullet and nothing else.

If I have misunderstood what you guys are talking about, sorry.

Jim

Curiously enough, I have a friend that was executive level engineer for Lockheed Martin missile division thats a handgun shooter. He saw my DTAC's at the range one day and got all kinds of excited. He was extremely surprised that someone had figured out how to smooth the flow of turbulence over a rifle bullet with the "nose ring" modification. He says it is fairly common on missiles and rockets. YMMV

WOW!!! Fantastic info. I have not had a chance to try them at longer distances yet but at 100 yds. in my 243AI they are really accurate with VV-N165.

I shoot them weekly out to 1277 yds with great success, I have pretty well stopped buying Bergers in 6mm because I have been so pleased with the DTAC's

eta- I shoot them in a 6XC Tubb Built with Borden Mountaineer, Schneider 30" finished p5 bbl atr profile in a JAE Chassis. Currently getting 3032 MV avg with 38.2 grains of H4350 with an SD of 4.8 over a 30 shot string in Petersen brass.

I have a friend getting a 6XC together in which he plans to shoot the 115 DTACs. I will pass along this info to him. Thanks.
I used the Manson reamer Tubb sells and its set up for 115 dtacs with enough freebore to seat long

i am also shooting coated nose rings. A lot of folks push em harder and load to about 39.5 gns. But I see no reason to at 3k+ velocities in my rifle.

Yea the ones we have are coated as well. I did not max. out my 243AI with VV-N165 either. Have not chronoed it yet but I expect I left some room at the top.

This all sounds very promising, as I have not used the DTACs yet. I will be using them I'm my MPA 6 Creedmoor, which is a Curtis Axiom action and MPA Match 1:7 26" barrel. The MPA Match barrels are less tapered and slightly larger than a M24 profile. I have been using Hornady 108 ELDMs, but have been experiencing too much jacket separation with them.

Terminal velocity from a 7 twist for a standard bullet is about 3000 ft per second which would put you at about 320,000 RPM.

Too much twist IMHO.

But the good news is is that you could switch to the DTAC and it has a thicker jacket and you probably won't have any failures. I've seen Tubb shoot them pretty darn fast.
