115 Berger molyed loads out of .243 win?

Well I am going to be shooting a .243 out of a single shot Savage. The barrel is a 28 inch Lothar Walther. Anyone got a load for this?

RHINOUT!

Hey Rhino. I don't shoot the Bergers but I do shoot the moly 115 DTACs. I use 42.5grns of H4350 in Win brass and get about 2960fps out of my 27" Schneider. Try some H4350. I bet you'll like it.

Rob01, how are the berger 115 working out for you. I have a factory savage with a 26 in barrel, I am shooting the 105 A-Max with ram shot hunter,1 9 1/4 twist) at 3150 fps. How does the H4350 differ from what I am using. I am always looking to shot better. Any info you can give is greatly appreciated.

What I'm interested in is the bullet construction, how well do they handle the velocity? I've read somethings about the 115 DTACS blowing up and I'm curious if the Berger's have better jackets?

I know that George Gardner from GA Precision's shoots the DTAC 115 at 3150 fps,243 win). That is really fast for a 115 grain bullet, I saw him compete at the Snipers Hide Cup this year and he did really well with no problems with his bullets. That is why I asked how the Berger bullets were working out for him. I figured since the DTAC market was so well, they had to come up with their own.

You see that is what i thought too... But then I read that at 3050Fps that some of the Dtacs were blowing up... Especially in a 32 inch tube. The barrel doesn't seem to be the issue because of the number projectiles blowing up... Perhaps 3 or 4 out 128 or more... So it would see that is the jacket to me because if it is barrel related stress induced problem issue would seem to me to occur far more frequently perhaps more like 60-70% of the time.

I've been shooting the 115 DTAC's naked out of a 28" Pac-Nor 1/7" twist barrel at velocities up to 3050 fps from a .243 Win. I know several others at my range who are also using this bullet at similar velocities using barrels from other barrelmakers. None of us have ever had a DTAC blow up in flight!

My only real complaint is that brass,Lapua) life isn't so good when driving naked DTAC's @3050 using heavy loads of Re25. I'm sure that part of this problem might be the high pressures caused in part by my 1/7" twist and plan to try moly-coating some of these bullets to see what difference it makes.

I'm actually using the moly 115 DTACs and they work great. Not sure about the powder differences. I went with H4350 because a friend was using it with great sucess and it seems to work very well with the 115 DTACs. It gives me both the accuracy and velocity I want so I'm sticking with it. I'm not the type of guy who burns out a barrel trying to find "the load". My load shoots under 1/2 MOA at 100 and at 300 yards shot a 10 shot group just a hair over 1" so it's good enough for me. It also allowed me to place 4th at the Snipers Hide Cup and 4th again at the Alleghany Sniper Challenge. $th might not sound too good but in that field of shooters it's pretty good.

Rob01, I think it is better than "pretty good" you shot damn good during the snipers hide cup. It was my first time going to a tournament like that. I did not shoot the cup, they had me a alternate. They called my buddy a week before the cup and asked me to be on stand by. I learned a lot just by watching all the shooter those three days. I just started shooting long range about a year ago. I think I have done well for myself, I have come in 4th and this last time I came in 2nd in a F class tournament we had out here. The winner of the F Class tournament is a former Marine Sniper, the others have shoot long range for years. Do not think I am trying to burn out my barrel, I am trying to get the best out of my loads for the future. Congrats on your last two tournaments.

Thanks Smokin. I wasn't trying to say you were one of the load chasers but just said that to give you something to think about when getting a load for a relitively short barrel lifed caliber. Find something that shoots and load alot of them and go shoot. Maybe I'll see you down at Rifles Only in November at the Fall Bash.

rob01, I want to wish you the best of luck at the next Snipers Hide Cup. Keep me posted if you here anything about the 115 Berger bullets thanks and the best of luck.

Well that's it seems to be occuring wiht guys using 30 or more inches of barrel...
