112 Magnum

??? what are you saying? I have a 13lb scoped 338 Terminator pushing 300 Bergers 3075 and recoil is almost non existent.

I see no reason to keep it at 14 pounds. I carried a M82 quite a distance, I'm sure I can move around a 24 pound rifle.

I bought one last fall and was pleasantly surprised at the recoil. I was expecting a pretty stout kick and what I felt was a firm steady push. I can shoot it repeatedly and not get sore and more importantly not get a flinch.

I've got a sporter type 280 AI I think is much less enjoyable to shoot.

At first it didn't seem bad then my shoulder got sore. But I took a tumble down a 50 foot creek bank two years ago and injured the right shoulder so maybe I'm not a good judge of recoil anymore. The problem is probably me from getting used to shooting a 17 pound 6BR with no pressure on the rifle. I found myself holding the same way with the 338 when I really focused on the shot. That smarted.

Yeah I definitely don't shoot the .338 the same way I shoot my bench guns. I pull the 112 into my shoulder snug but let it push me. I'm not gonna try to catch it like a bench gun. LOL

Why not just put a more efficient brake on it and add some weight to taste and moving around wont be so bad that way. To each his own and I mean no disrespect.

Exactly my plan. I'm using the Beast II as a pattern although slightly downsized. It will have a larger and better recoil pad than the factory stock. Being lined up with the scope without add on's will be a plus also.

I actually bought a brake that was claimed to be 40 - 50 % reduction in recoil over the factory brake more for the self timing to get away from the crush washer set up and found the new brake seemed to have more felt recoil plus it directed much of the blast back towards me instead of straight out the sides like the factory brake.

I bought a set of shims for the factory brake, ditched the crush washer and put it back on.

I think it depends on what you plan on doing with the rifle. How you hold it and how many shots you fire. For my plans their is no weight restriction only caliber. I don't plan on loading the bipod or putting a lot of pressure on the stock. 103 grains of powder is 103 no matter how you look at it, but I plan on stopping it from jumping off target.

I have a terminator T4 break on my 338 I love it really tamed it down
