10mm pistol loads

I have a Glock Model 40 with an aftermarket stainless steel bbl . But a factory spring. I have Blue dot powder and 180 gr XTP ,what primer recommendation,is a magnum primer un- necessary for stout loads?

I only use magnum primers in ball powder loads for pistol. H110 and the like. Test both ways.

Anybody got a good stout load recipe for power pistol and 180gr plated bullets?
Dusty , I shoot tons of Berry's bullets in 9mm and the instructions from Berry's is to load them as lead or low to medium fmj data... In the Glock they build pressure like lead and in 9mm the lead data was right on the money I can't imagine loading them to the medium fmj data... I loaded a few by accident at the max lead data and they were very fast... Just thought I would mention this for safety... Also don't be surprised if you get a few strange flyers past 15 yards... Berry's has been threatening to publish load data for years but they never do.... I myself am fixing to pick up a G20 and have already decided not to run Berry's in it... For that one I will pay a little more for my bullets I think....

I loaded up 50 with power pistol at 1240-1245fps and they shoot as good as any jacketed ive tried at 30yd but any farther i dont know. Ill just keep using the underwoods until i can test em more but so far they look ok. Still not a bear load though which is the main reason i have it.

Hey that's great , I may have to give them a go....

Yep, don’t expect great accuracy. Had some store-bought 38 Wadcutters loaded with plated bullets and they had a bunch of 7s. In my 9 Luger combat loads, I’ll get about 1 in 10 that are flyers. All over the target so it isn’t me either. They’re fine for training and general shooting but serious competitors shoot either jacketed or coated cast.

These berrys are copper coated hardcast- are you talking about something else?

I have found this to be true I get a strange flyers about 1/10... Out of 50 rounds there's 5 or so that hit in places that make you raise an eyebrow... I have shot thousands and thousands of Berry's bullets in 9mm and always had the problem... Once I sent back part of a thousand pack because I was having such a problem I sat down and started weighing some and in that pack the weights were what I would consider dangerous in some if you were loading hot loads... Which I am not but even yesterday or the day before I went and shot , out of 30 rounds that I shot ( I took my neighbor ) I had 3 , one hit so high it barely clipped the target , and two touching at 5oclock... The rest in a group you could cover with you palm....

Now I don't claim to be a great shooter but I do shoot.. mainly pistol and between 5000 - 8000 and up to 10,000 rounds a year in various guns both pistol and rifle and both Rimfire and centerfire and have over 40 years experience, more pistol than anything... I shoot my carry Glock a ton and at ten yards with Berry's it will cut the center out but at 15 yards or further it has strange flyers and it's not the gun and for years I have said it's not me either... If the sights are the same and a bullet hits way off , up goes that eyebrow... I have loaded them by hand with the same methods we use to load precision rifle and I have loaded them on my Dillon and I get the exact same results... I gave up last year and the only thing I do is make sure the brass is the same brand and pretty dang close to the same length... I have gone as far as weighing bullets and even hand weighing each charge , it turned out the same , about 1 out of 10 got a strange flyer... One day I need to buy some decent bullets and give them a go but the Berry's are cheap and I am a sucker and keep buying them , it's the actual definition of crazy...lol

Here are some accuracy loads from The Shadow at 10mmfirearms.com using 180s. Don't know the velocity of these loads as I only use 5.2 grains of Win 231 for plinking loads with 180 plated bullets. My full power stuff is 200 grain hardcast fueled by 10.0 grains of Blue Dot.

180 grain Accuracy Loads Recommended by The Shadow

10.2-10.4 grains Blue Dot

8.2-8.4 grains Power Pistol

7.8-8.0 grains BE-86

Power pistol is the ticket for stout loads in the 10mm.
Back when I was into 10mm, most the the guys pushing the heat preferred Longshot or 800-x. 800-x is a pain to meter, and can sneak up on you (especially over the 9gr mark). Power Pistol was considered to go not quite as far before pressure when chasing ultimate speed in 10mm with 165/170/180/200s.

I’ve been getting 1316 average velocity from a 180XTP bullet in my 6” Kimber 10mm using BE-86. And the lowest extreme spread of ANY load I’ve ever seen. 4fps! I can’t wait to try it at 200 yds, silhouette shooting!

Never heard of this powder, who makes BE -86

Back in the day before Power Pistol was cannister marketed it was called BE-84 in the industry and was the most popular powder for various factory pistol loads I am told. Developed for the Nato 9mm load for the US military production. I use it in my 10's for 2 loads. A 40 S&W equivalent using 6.5 grains and a hotter load using 8.5 grains. Both extremely accurate from my 1911's. However, it is a little flashy and loud compared to some others.

Not seeing much load info on this,
I hope to find an original bren ten load to deer hunt with from my sw 2.0 10mm.
From what I can find it was an Australian powder not sold to bandleaders. But hoping to duplicate it with 180 gr nosler as close to 1400fps as I can accurately get. ( safley)

Alliant powder
And it’s a favorite pistol powder of mine. I only switched to Sport Pistol because for my use it works better (fast burn). Be-86 is flash suppressed, but pretty snappy with recoil. Made warm heavy 9mm loads with it felt like 40sw.
