1000yd 6.5x47

Still reading and collecting data
6.5xc pert same as 6.5x47 member stated he routinely gets 3000 rnds match life from barrel...not sure of load

Running the numbers on Bryan Litz's ballistics program (using actual chrono data from my 6.5x47s & 308s), it's obvious that the little 6.5x47 would qualify as a contender at 1k. Compared to a 308 shooting even the newer 155 Palma bullets, a Berger 140 LR BT running 2824fps out of a 6.5x47 will hit 2.5 MOA inside a Sierra #2156 @2950fps out of a 308 at 1k in a 10mph full-value wind. In my book, that's not too shabby.

I've seen a lot of higher velocities claimed for the 6.5x47 here & on other sites, but accuracy at 2824fps out of my barrel has been considerably better than at 2900+.

No reason why it won't. The wind is not our friend though....

I hope my 6.5x47 will reach out to 1K yds!

Scottish gunsmith and benchrest shooter Russ Gall used one of his rifles in 6.5X47L complete with his own design and manufacture single-shot precision action in the F-Class European Championship meeting at Bisley last autumn.

He was 26th (out of a field of around 90 F-Open competitors) in a weekend with 800, 900 and 1,000yd matches. A very creditable result given the number of hot sevens seen on the UK F-Class cisrcuit at this level, and with Russ only rarely taking part in F-Class matches.

Sorry, I can't tell you what bullet weight he was running.

So after comparing numerous real world fps for H4350 and QL, appears QL is within 25fps of actual
QL 41.5 6.5x47 140vld shows 2981fps so 2950 should be doable, 2900+ for sure.

thats leaves rl17 for 20" pig gun which needs extra fps provided to hit 2900 with 123 bullet

So after much debating way to much reading 6.5x47 it is, thnx for all input

It will get 2950 fps. no problem with a 31" bbl. and Reloader 17. My "47" is 28" and I run it at 2930 fps. It's also somewhat accurate! ;D

I have used mine at 1000 yds. and have shot in the mid to low 190's with my "47" pretty consistently, sometimes giving the "7's" a run for their money!
