Here is the light gun equipment list from the recents IBS 1000 yard nations.

Surprised to see no one shooting 6xc or larger 7mm what is the average velocity with 105 bullets with the bra
I am a curious sort and when looking at match equipment lists my first observation is that what creates the dominate cartridge? I would offer that once someone wins a match or two with a specific cartridge, then others follow that lead. So there is a certain "Herd" mentality that takes over. If you won a national match with a turd attached to the end of your barrel, what do you think you would see at the next match?
It was mentioned that with a BRA you can get Dasher speeds with less pressure. How does that happen? It seems that to achieve a specific muzzle velocity, you have to create a given pressure. The pressure that is generated doesn't know what case is behind it, so how is the same pressure easier on throats? What is the difference in bbl life between a Dasher and a BRA? Anyone have a valid accounting of the difference?
Several years ago, when the Dasher was the golden child, all matches were won with it. So everyone chambered their bbls for Dashers. I don't think there is a dime's worth of difference between any of the 6mmBR variants. One of the reasons (other than the "Herd" mentality) for any given cartridge dominating the competition scene may just be compatibility to powders suitable to the case capacity. Competitors are always playing with case capacity vs best available powders.
PS If you are just starting out, I would go a no turn neck straight BR. It is the easy button with no case forming or neck turning. Learn the rest of the equipment game before you hit the "Wildcat" button.

I think a lot of us would like clarification on how the smaller case makes the same speeds with less pressure with the associated other benefits. Not trying to be difficult just want to understand.

All my smallest groups at 1000 have been with a 6.5x47. Shot my first 4”, 3”, and recently 2” group with one. My heart is with the small stuff though and a 22 PPC shooting the 90gn bullets has shot the most consistently small groups for me at 500yds (the distance I shoot and tune at on my own).

I shoot a 6xc 115 burgers 1x7.5 twist 3060fps I don’t see how a 105 @ 2900
Is going to outperform that at 1000 in the wind. bra is a great round but when did we start going backwards for more accuracy and distance

For myself, it would be just for fun at local matches.
And I like to experiment, so it would be some oddball or "obsolete" cartridge, probably in either 25 caliber or 7mm.
