10/22 questions

I have some questions about the 10/22. I have one, shoots great I also have a 1607 and 40xb for rimfire.

My questions are these:

1) Threading factory ruger receiver.. will the aluminum hold up?

2) cone breach for a semi auto? pros/cons?

Im looking at putting a take-off annie or 40x barrel on it. let me know what you guys think.

I was going to go the annie route but my smith said to much weight.
This was a .970 1413 bbl and was not going the thread route.
I'd go with an after market if threading is in the cards.
The cone breach would take a beating maybe, but with a nut system
like a savage you could play with bbl index?

10/22's are money pits - I have 4 I know ;)

I was thinking of a 54MS barrel which is about 22 inches.

Im just trying to get a bit more accuracy out of it.. maybe to use it as a loaner silhouette rifle. I already have a primary hunter and standard rifle.

I do have a bloop tube left over.. maybe thats the way to go.... :/

If you want a threaded receiver/barrel look into one of the MOA Corp's stainless receivers. I have two and I am extremely pleased with both.

I rebarreled a 10/22 with a aftermarket blem bought at a gun show a few years ago. Barrel would not fit into receiver without the help of a mallet and piece of 2x4. Gun shot EXCELLENT!!! Under .25" at 50 yds for 3 shots with Wolf MT. That is the biggest downfall to the Rugers is the sloppy fit between receiver and barrel. i don't think threads are that necessary unless you are shooting competition.
