1 or 2 stage trigger?

I just had another Jewell go down and ordered a B & A trigger for my B A T HG. All they had in stock was a two stage, so I had it 2nd day air'd to me. To my suprise it didn't come with a trigger shoe and I don't have time to get one before I leave tonight. I am going to switch out another trigger from another gun for now to get me back up and running.

My question is.....for a bench gun, do you prefer 1 or 2 stage triggers? I can always send this back and wait for a single stage.

WHAT SAY YOU?

I have always run 2 stage in my sling guns, HP and SB, also air rifle. but on my bench/F rifle, im getting along fine with the single stage. the Sidhe is an amazing trigger!

A two stage trigger on a service rifle allows you to meet the required minimum trigger pull weigh with a heavy first stage and have a clean smooth breaking trigger in the second stage.

My M1 and M1-A's have triggers set up this way and the AR lower I used on service and match rifle uppers has one of the Jewel 2 stage triggers that is a very nice trigger IMHO.

Fred, at Sharp Shooter's Supply, installed one of his single stage Evolution triggers on a Savage single shot "target" action when they first came out and it breaks under 3 ounces like a skinny icicle and has 1800 rounds on it with no problems. That rifle is used for the club level 300 yd. F class matches our club holds.

Use what suits the discipline you shoot.

For shooting benchrest I think a single stage is the answer. A two stage trigger is used mostly when the trigger pull requirement is unusually heavy such as in a military rifle. The first stage takes off most of the weight and the second stage leaves the shooter with only about a half pound or so to break the shot. It's what you get used to.

I think two stage triggers are popular in 'cross the course' - even for 'match' rifles with no limit on trigger weight.
For me, the first stage is used as a final check on my position and NPA [1-2 seconds] then initiate shot release.
For a bolt gun, I like my both first and second stages in the 8-10oz range - depending on the feel of the trigger.
I'm using an AR Diamond in my spacegun - first stage is 4 oz, second is 20 oz.

I never understood why some liked a 2 stage trigger ??? To me it was just a trigger w/a lot of creep, that the owner paid good money to have. LDS
Because on semi’s / military rifles that’s how triggers are , so us service rifle and high power shooters get used to them and actually prefer them
Imho
Way less trigger problems down the road from singe stage triggers ,
