Timney 2 Stage ?

I have a 5R Mil-Spec 308 that I like a great deal, but the X-Mark Trigger is lacking. All my bolt guns have single stage, I do have a RRA Varmiter with a 2 stage that works well. My plan has been to get a Single Stage and set at 2.5#, but I saw the Timney 2 stage advertised, the first stage is 3# or so but the 2nd is about .5# I understand. Sounds like that could be nice, I know David Tubb likes a 2 stage, I would like some opions from those who have one on a bolt gun, thanks!

My match rifles have or have had 2-stage triggers and I like them. For conventional Long Range competition I gravitated to single stage set at around 1.25-1.5Ibs.. I believe that for Service Rifle competition 2-stage triggers are a huge help in dealing with the mandated 4.5Ib. pull.

Although my experiences may not be comparable to your usage, for competition or target type shooting, I enjoy a two stage. But I've found on hunting type firearms I prefer a single stage. Recently on a hog hunt, I found myself pulling the trigger of the 2 stage to the effect of a revolver handgun. I had completely pulled right thru both stages and not even noticed it for the excitement of the hunt. When I have time to concentrate and i am not in such an excited state, the 2 stage is really comfortable.
Also, maybe opposite of others, I prefer the first stage to be set lighter than the 2nd stage. I like a 1 lb. first stage and a 2 pound second stage. I like to pull thru the first stage to take up the slack and hold the position then the last little bit to move the trigger to fire on the 2nd stage.
