1/4 MOA Sabatti Rifle Claim -- Tunnel Test

My point is that is all irrelevant. A 100 yd group--no matter how small it is--is a meaningless measurement for a rifle meant to be shot at long range. What counts is groups at longer ranges.
How many of your loads shoot well at 'long range' that do not shoot well at 100 yards ?

I don’t consider a 3 shot group to really be a standard to show accuracy. I’ve shot some unreal 3 shot groups in any of my BR rifles, and only wished it ended there. And it is not necessarily shot 4or 5 that screwed up the group.
Worse actually than the 1,000 foot quarter mile drag strips. It’s good but the race in my mind is not over yet.
I wondered about what he called ‘ mirage’.
I never shot in a tunnel but is mirage a problem in them?
It’s a nice rifle but not for me.
Yes, mirage can often be terrible in a tunnel. Weird voodoo in an ill designed tunnel. Strange air currents and mirage can be brutal. Even when you can't see apparent mirage, it can be there. Ask rimfire shooters who shoot indoors pretty often. It's the mirage you can't see that really beats ya up.

Actually I had a 300 WSM load that only shot 3/4 in groups at 100 but still shot 3/4 in groups at 300. Go figure. 300 really isnt long range but still illustrates its possible. This wasn't a 1 time deal, it was consistent thru the life of the barrel.

Factory euro rifles? I have a mid 80's JP Sauer 30-06 Mod 200. This rifle will shot cold bore or smokin hot at poa. But when you buy a Sauer you dont get a bottle of monogrammed cologne included the box like you do with a Sabatti. With Sauer you get a skinning knife. hah.

That is pretty cool and I would take that all day long on a hunting rifle.

However, it was not the question posed

I have several US built Les Baer AR rifles (in different cartridges) and they all shoot 1 hole groups with factory Federal ammo, according to the targets that came with them.

I never have been able to repeat this performance at the outdoor range, with factory Federal GMM ammo. But with handloads, they are incredible.

I wish they still made them.

Yep, have a 1990's vintage 202 that shoots as well.

Fyi..if you ever wanted to get a barrel made in a more exciting chambering, Benchmark does them for the Sauer STR 200 (uses same barrel setup as 202/200)

For the 200 series rifles Sauer requires them to be able to shoot 5x at max 1 moa at point off aim with a mix of box euro hunting ammo, cold or smoking hot. Some guys from Petersons went to factory and did an article on this. They shot over 200 rds at range until barrel got too hot to touch and rifle still shot moa at poa. Obviously if one tunes a load the precision part tightens up significantly!

Not me: 5 shots Savage 6BR. LRPV all stock
Lapua ammo 100 yards . No tunnel.
Pic above . Screwed up posting 2 copies
Agreed.
LRPVs can be crazy accurate.
Mine shot a sub 0.2 inch 5 shot group some years ago. Can't claim that I was the driver, but I built the ammo.

3 shot groups to prove anything are 'bogus' as we all know so it ticks me off when a manufacturer is bragging up and doing only 3 shots

While 5 or 10 shots are more accepted, if
the 3 shot groups are repeatable, then I don't see an issue with it.
I like to see how a barrel handles heat. Seems like most factory barrels i’ve had start to open up after 3 shots.
