Shilen price increase coming...

I order thru NSS for the better price and no extra charge for custom throating, pretty good savings over direct order from Shilen on Savage barrels.

Love em. Just got this one in recently. Also running a Shilen 26" on one of my Savage .223s. All have worked out to sub 1/4 moa. Whatta Hobby!

How does that Shilen ratchet-rifled barrel shoot? I recently ordered a 26" in 300WSM and I couldn't decide whether to get ratchet or standard/conventional rifling. At first I was kinda leery of "ratchet rifling" but then a brief online search turned up lots of happy customers, so I left it up to the folks at Shilen. All I care is that it shoots well and lasts a good long while.

I buy whichever gets to me quickest. Personally I've seen no difference.

They still button pull barrels I had 6ea 6mm barells 1 was a ratchet it shot lights out it was a H/V I wish have a truck load they were 15 years old I still have 1 h/v non ratchets

The last Shilen I bought was an excellent barrel and I am still shooting it. My gunsmith bought it from The Barrelman. I've bought from others since then trying to find better but I don't think I ever have.

The Alternut barrels they make for Remage conversions are very nice. I have two of them. Compared to other Remage barrels, they have different threads between the nut and the barrel tenon. As such it is easier to torque the nut without the barrel moving, and therefore keep the exact headspace desired.

Both of mine came very well finished, with excellent machine work. Shot very well right out of the box.

I have been shooting a Shilen Match Select, 4 groove, 28" Bull, chambered in 6ARC in a local match league for two seasons now and with it I have moved up from the middle of the pack, 12th overall, into the top 4.

Sure, some of it has been in moving from the 223 to the 6ARC, but I still place much of this performance increase on the barrel.
