Barrel life 800-1100 rounds!

Pdog shooting is way kinder on a barrel then PRS shooting.
The rate of fire: example. 10 rounds 90 seconds, 8 stages. You get all 80 rounds off in a total of 12 minutes or less. I've never shot pdogs remotely close to that. When I shot f class I usually send my 22 rounds down range in an average of 12-15 minutes unless I have to wait longer for my condition.
I buy my shooting equipment to be used, but don't mistake that I use it foolishly. It's used the way that the shooting calls for.
When the barrel is done it's done. Don't make a mistake and shoot a barrel past it serviceable life for that discipline.....you'll just be throwing money away that could have been put towards another barrel.

I was making a joke about you might have forgotten what you had had said yesterday. It really happens to us older guys.
Nope, didn't forget, but two entirely different context.

As an avid reloader I have and keep many different loads of the same caliber. Many are just a change in powder weight so yes, it is highly required to label everything, or I would never keep track. So if someone isn't labeling their stuff then that's on them. But to imply someone else is not doing it, wow.

Sorry again, you had wrote that one liner that I replied to and I was just trying to crack a joke. I will watch myself.

An example of not paying attention. This just happened to a fellow shooting in our local league. He is shooting a custom 308 for this and yes, he reloads. His wife is shooting a 6.5CM in this same league.

They were out practicing the other day and as he tells me, somehow 3 rounds of 6.5 got mixed in with his 308 and he shot them in the 308. It destroyed that barrel. Feel sorry for him but that was preventable.

I know, but I think it missed.

I can take a joke as well as the next. A couple years ago during our league the manager come up with a joke too. In that case, if you accidently shot someone else's target, you earned a wooden yard stick! That year there were 5 of them given out. I got one too!

I think I may have a barrel that qualifies for the most worn out category....... I had a krager heavy varmint 28 inch eight twist 6MMBR that I shot nothing but WS2 coated bullets in... I shot a NBRSA 600 yd three target score record with it in 2009 at that time it had approximately 1500 rounds through it I went ahead and use that barrel because it was a screamer until it had about 3000 rounds down the tube I removed the barrel and set it aside for a while,,,, I looked at it with a horoscope and the 1st inch of the rifling was pretty well gone so I got the bright idea to re-chamber that barrel as a 243.... I then shot it for fun at paper and at varmints for an additional 800 rounds when it started keyholing and throwing the bullets all over the place and I was even seen sparks fly out the barrel as I was looking through the scope it was hilarious,,,,, I borescoped the barrel at that time and approximately eight or 9 inches of the rifling was gone..... Every bullet that I fired in that barrell had WS 2 coating on it ....I am a believer in using that and I say continuously that I feel as though it doubles the barrel life as you can see it certainly helped in this barrel,,,,,,as a BR I shot mostly Rx-15 and n-540 powder,,,,,as a .243 I used mostly rx-22 and H-4831,,,,Roger

A 222 using Win 748 or H335 gives some very long barrel life. On dog towns, we shot them as fast as we could stuff them in the magazines, I had to wear a finger cod on my thumb for protection. How much longer than a 223 with the same powder and bullet weights would be very little.

Destroyed the barrel? Wow. I've seen a half dozen 22's fired through a 6 with no apparent ill effects. Even the target was unharmed! I fired a whole box of 30/06 through my 35 Whelen, for the brass. It looked as good as ever. Just lucky, I guess.
I had one barrel come into the shop, a stainless Remington, 22-250. The owner had kept close track and the barrel had just over 7700 rounds through it. Accuracy had degraded to the point that a 100 yard ground squirrel had a chance of coming through unscathed. The barrel showed no apparent rifling for at least five inches, but the surface was smooth and consistent as could be. It was also very straight. I had it rebored to 7mm and made it a 280. WH

Not knowing about this stuff, how did it destroy the barrel?

Similar to 'cross the course'.
In our 80 shot matches, there are 4 strings of fire that we fire 10 rounds in under 60 or 70 seconds. The strings are 2-4 minutes apart. Because the time includes finalizing the position and a mag change, the actual firing rate is close to 1 round per 2-3 seconds.

There are another two stages where we have 22 minutes to fire 22 rounds.

That should be Accurate Arms 2700 ...
Thank you, sir. Looks like it's a double-base powder ... surprising that AckleymanII says it's easy on barrels, I always thought double-base ball powders were usually hot and ruff...
FWIW, it looks like it's on sale today at PV, and orders over $149 get free hazmat today only
