Midway complaints

Odered 2k of bullets as what I wanted they had the best price, ok.
Glad I was not out and could proceed with my loading. Two weeks and six days from the day I ordered it arrived.
I can drive there and back from home in less than a day. This is not the first time this has happened. I tracked a bunch of stuff a couple of years ago, went to St.Louis and sat for several days, then to KCMO and sat there for a while, then 40 miles west on I-70 for a bit, then finally back to KCKS and delivered a couple of days later. I will blame that on the carrier. We have all read on that issue at some point in time or another.

I am fairly loyal to several in the list mentioned above, I will even pay a bit more for items from them because of the service I have received.
Pretty sure we all shop around and let our dollars do the talking.

Amazon, imho the next Walmart, it will cause harm even more so in smaller towns. I dislike it but the convenience is there.
I do the Prime thing, needed some aluminum black, $2 more than midway, but free (kinda) shipping and will be here Wednesday, so they say. I have found there online wording to be sub par at times.

I've found reloading items on Amazon. The price may be a little higher, but with the type of account we have shipping is free. I'm sure many mail order companies shipping is a big profit maker. I have preferred other companies to Midway since the days they sent catalogs. I didn't need Larry's picture every fifteen pages. I purchased a Triple K holster thru Amazon, it was shipped from Midway. Due to a poor description it was the wrong size. Midway required a $15 return shipping fee. I called the Triple K factory, sent the holster (less than $8) and receipt, they immediately shipped the proper holster. I couldn't expect better service. A shell holder for my hand primer was 2 weeks out at the local reloading store. I called Amazon on a Saturday, I had the shell holder Monday afternoon. I had a minimum drive of 60 miles(rnd trip) if I could find it.

My go to source has generally been Graf & Sons, but like the rest of us I have spent a lot of money with Midway. I have and do buy from a multiple of sources, Brownell's, Midsouth Natchez.

I haven't had any issues with them lately, but I do agree they are overpriced compared to other venders.

As for the shipping label being generated and the Post Office Tracking being updated, we can blame both sources.

I would like to know what specific issues the OP had. Too general of a statement to have any real meaning. As far as the packages touring around before being delivered correctly sounds more like a problem with UPS or who ever was delivering the package.
I ordered a butt pad from Midway and that is what happened to me. Tracking showed it bouncing around Kansas City Kansas to Kansas City Missouri back and forth so many times it was ridiculous. I finally contacted Midway and they sent a replacement right away. Two days after the replacement arrived, the original order showed up. USPS is a complete disaster, they lost an envelope that was only going 2 counties away back in September! In December, I ordered some decals from Military Graphics and they still have not showed up! Kudos to Military Graphics for sending a replacement order with tracking! The tracking on that one showed it was making the rounds instead of being delivered! I filed a complaint at my local Post Office and voila, it was sent back to my local P.O. in Maryland from near Pittsburg the second time around the tour de east coast and delivered the next day. No wonder the USPS is constantly losing money! Shipping services have become a disaster over the past couple of years.

I had a big problem with USPS following a Black Friday flurry of purchases. I ordered a barrel from AeroPrecision and someone in the USPS stole it while in transit. I received an empty box with a hole in it. I called AeroPrecision and they confirmed that this happened to a number of barrel purchases. Someone in Seattle Post Office decided to help themselves. USPS hires temporary help during the holiday season and I think some of these people are pretty sketchy. I am still waiting for the replacement barrel...

I tried 3 times to get a Pro Shot 1 piece cleaning rod from Midway. Every time, they put it in a regular cardboard box and it showed-up looking like a recurve bow. They did accept the returns and after the 3rd time they refunded my money. Ordered from Brownells. They put it in a heavy cardboard tube and it arrived undamaged the first time.

Ignorance and Stupidity.

Ignorance is doing something once because you know no better.

Stupidity is doing something over and over and expecting the outcome to change.

I finally quit being stupid. The shipping department at Midway probably STILL sends cleaning rods out in regular cardboard boxes. They never packaged it any differently, nor tried a different shipper. UPS all 3 times.

Don't know. Not interested in engaging in Stupidity again.

I've used Midway quite a bit in the past and the only problem I've ever had was the packaging, throwing a couple boxes of bullets into a big box without some sort of protection and I ended up with a bunch of loose bullets and a few lost in the gaps of the box, I chalked that up to a bad employee which can happen. Lately I've noticed pricing being higher but once I got to checking around pricing seems to be all over the place between companies. Now I have a few I shop at and I price my list amongst them including the shipping and may the winner win.

I ordered some Lyman case lube and Midway shipped it in a plastic envelope, and it leaked out so I told them about it. So, what does Midway do? They send a replacement in the same kind of envelope but aha this one didn't leak out.

I have been using them also for decades and have never had a problem. In fact they have just sent me a replacement item and did not want me to return the bad one. I never order some cleaning rods from them for obvious reasons, but they don't seem to be cheaper there anyway. Bore-Tech rods come from the factory packed really good because they have to be. I think I have bought something from almost everyone, especially during Covid. They all have their issues sooner or later I would think. At least we have plenty of choices here in the U.S.

I suppose I could have kept returning the cleaning rods until 1 eventually showed up straight.

I wonder how many it would have taken? Once more, 5 more, 10 more?

I needed the cleaning rod. So I wasn't interested in finding out.

Never had a problem with Midway. They are down the list for my shopping needs but I will occasionally buy from them.

I met Larry (and his son) and was able to tour their fulfillment center a few years ago. The company I worked for at the time shipped 20,000 - 40,000 orders a day and Midway's operation was exponentially larger. It was crazy! I can't imagine what they look like now.

Pretty sure Brownells is large volume. Never had a packaging issue with them.

Seems to me there isn't an emphasis on packaging.

I work for a Class 1 Railroad. I work in the materials/shipping department. Some of the packages we get from UPS/Fed-Ex look like they fell out of the truck at highway speed. Stuff missing, broken, damaged.

The underlying cause? VERY poor packaging. Some of it is handling. But the majority is simply poor packaging.

You can't put glass in a 75 pound box with large, heavy steel parts and a few plastic 'bubble spacers' and not expect problems.

But. That's the situation nearly every day.

Just dumb.

I have used Midway a fair amount, had returns well handled. Other than their fast shipping is anything but, not other issues.

"Midway required a $15 return shipping fee."

I had the same issue. I tried to return a small part. When doing the return online, it asked for my CC number. When I called them they said the return shipping cost was more than the refund and they needed to charge me the difference.
So it was going to cost me $8 to return a $4 part. ????
I told the girl that I could through it in the trash and save $4.
I told her that her customer service was lacking given how much they profit on shipping.
She said Midway doesn't make a dime on shipping. BS. They charge you $8 to send a padded envelope via USPS.
