I'm not the OP, but that's all I use when trapping hogs.

It's one-and-done when you put a 40 grain CCI Standard Velocity an inch high between the eyes.

You probably need an excavator to dig a hole big enough to bury them.. How do you get rid ofthe bodies?

I dig a hole and back the trailer up to the hole and pull them into the hole with my backhoe. Everything about dealing with a pig is a PITA.

Well, that's one way to look at it....

Hogs are very smart. Getting them to even come close to a trap takes time, patience and one hell of a lot of figuring "stuff" out.

Once you get them to where they'll show up on a regular basis, you get to set the traps and hope for the best.

Now's the fun part... Setting the traps, showing up at God knows what hours of the night to check the traps (yes, they do climb out, jump out, dig out, etc). Most of the time, you come up with a big zero.

I've only been doing this for the last 50 or so years, but they're one of the smartest animals I've trapped (fox, bobcats, coyotes, lions, coon, etc).

Toss your hat in the ring and give it a try some day. I think you'll be humbled by how often they make you look foolish.

I believe you about the hogs being very smart and I realize that they are destructive to crops and land. We don't have them up here in PA but if we did, people would hunt them.
