NRA core mission effectiveness

Putting aside the political issues, my experiences have left me feeling underwhelmed (and that's being kind).

As someone new to NRL competitions, I had to wait an entire year for my classification to be revised to HM, and I received no assistance when I called with questions about the rules. While they have no problem sending me donation requests—that part of their system works perfectly fine—everything else seems poorly managed. Other competitive associations prioritize serving their customers, but the NRL seems to view me as just a donor rather than a valued customer.

If I managed my companies as the NRL manages theirs, I would have gone out of business in the first year.

I've seen many of the same complaints towards the freedom benchrest organization.

I'm still trying to figure out how to discuss the "core effectiveness" of the NRA (whose main function is to lobby the government) without being *political".

There may have been a time that the NRA was not primarily a lobbyist organization, but in my adult years that is absolutely what it has represented itself as being. I remember asking for money for gun rights and printing a magazine. That was about it.

I don't want to be accused of political posts on this forum, and I have no desire to discuss "politics". But the NRA is political. That is it's main function. Or it was. I'm not sure what it does now.

NRA sends a mailing EVERY month that my membership is expiring. Yet, it takes 2 months to get my renewal card after I send my payment. That’s a lot of resources wasted and an example of mismanagement.
The only reason I retain my membership is that most clubs and matches require it.

NRA has 2 components:

(1) NRA ILA

(2) All the actual gun related stuff

But yeah... NRA is political .

Im hoping the prohibition against politics is Repub vs. Dems, elections, Congress, taxation etc.
