HALLELUJAH!! I Got My Computer Back!

I've been in Cyber Hell, for about a week now - perfect storm crap.
Got a fraud alert involving my PayPal, phone, and debit card, at about the same time I broke my computer. AND -- E-Mail quit working.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm a total tard about doing on-line stuff on my phone, (or the computer for that matter)

All said and done, I canceled PayPal, canceled the corrupted card, and have been changing passwords, and buttoning things up in a general way. Got the E-mail going today, and there's more suspicious stuff that still needs to be addressed.

The amount of money stolen was only a few hundred bucks, (that I know of so far) and the bank involved has covered that. I'm starting to feel a little relief, but also wondering if the other shoe is gonna drop.

I've been wondering how many folks use the forum with your phones vs computer. I sure don't find it very pleasant. jd

One of the reasons I put everything on a credit card. If it’s compromised it’s not my actual money like from a debit card. You can dispute it cancel cards and get new ones.
I have had friends get their debit cards compromised and took over a week to get money back in his account

AS is the site i use most on my phone(dont like it either) but i usually use an ipad. i dont do any phone banking, I canceled my paypals years ago but have thought of getting it back lately. im highly skeptical though and they really are an antigun operation. in other news i had some unauthorized charges on one CC several years ago. CC company sent me a new card with new number but the charges kept happening.. Found out one of the places i was buying stuff from was where my card numbers were being obtained from. I dont use the fly by nighter suppliers either.. I never use my debit card except at that banks atm to get cash and i dont do that very often. Debit cards dont have the protection CCs do and i dont want crooks having access to my checking and savings accounts. sounds like ur getting things cleaned up thats good-- All the complications and problems from all this HiTech stuff are getting real old for me. Im feeling like dropping out!!!

What do you use to keep track of sign on name and password for everything?
Without divulging a lot about my "system" let's just say I've been pretty stupid and careless, and that's changed.
My chick turned me into an Apple guy, and we're in "the Cloud" with phones and computers synced with each other.

I think my next computer will be an IPad. jd

one thing i have always done is keep my passwords at home only . i dont put them in any password manager - or in the cloud ect. all of those can be compromised.

@ jds holler my Samsung S25 is my computer, it takes a lil getting used too but everything you need really is in the palm of your hand.
Cyber chiefs can suck a fat man's D..., starting with this 1. I got hit for $1600 once thankfully it all got sorted out with the bank.

Desk top guy here. I can get by on the phone but desk top is my forte'. A few years ago my bank called about suspicious charges in Californee. I hadn't been there in a few years. Both mine and the wifes card was hit. Both for under $100. Bank had froze the card immediately. PITA dealing with this. New card, new numbers. And new pins.

Foot's doing very well. The doc pulled me up short about rushing things. I'm sposed to limit weight bearing for three more weeks. Let me tell ya I'm getting sick of being a crip. jd

I know it's hard to do but listen to your doc!
Had rotator cuff surgery Nov 13th and I'm chomping at the bit to just do some reloading or casting - NO! Like you I'm tired of chomping at the bit, bright side is I use 1lb ingots for some of my PT exercises, easier for me than cans of soup and, yes, I wash my hands well afterward. ;)

I tore my shoulder up about ten years back, and the PT for that was WAAYY more extensive and long term to get things back to peachy.
Now that shoulder is better than the one I never injured.. do what they tell ya. jd
