Medium Sized 22 Pistol Recommendations

Been thinking about adding a 22 pistol to the collection. I currently have a big Ruger mark ii target, and a Glock 44. The Ruger is a great shooting gun but a bit of an anchor, and the g44 is very light and a little tricky to shoot accurately between the trigger and sights.

Looking for a Goldilocks 22 pistol that is in between what I already have. Trying to find something that is fairly light and compact, but easy to shoot accurately. The use case would be throwing it in my range bag for some target practice alongside whatever else I’m bringing, and general plinking.

Any recommendations for me to look into? Bonus points for reasonable cost, easy to get magazines / parts for, and ability to mount a red dot.

I have been seriously thinking about adding a Ruger Super Wrangler to my collection, looks like a fun inexpensive gun to shoot.
I wish they would bring it out in 17hmr.

TX22 Comp = best available. Mine is a medium-sized race gun, but you can get rid of the comp Or or even downsize to the TX22. The pictured model has a fixed barrel and red dot set up that makes it shoot just about any ammo. As pictured, Tandemcross can supply you with aftermarket. To turn it into about anything you want. The gun itself and accessories are reasonably priced.

Keltec P17. Light-weight, mid size, accurate, high cap (17) AND CHEAP! Totally a lot for the money. AND FUN. jd
Also comes with 3 magazines, a hard case, and a threaded barrel. It can handle a red/green dot sight. For $199 everyone should have one. But I do admit it takes practice to learn the trigger and its light weight. When you do you’ll be surprised at its accuracy.

My wife has a Browning Buckmark. The boys all learned on it and it has a special place in my heart. That son of a gun will stack'em in the center and shoot almost any ammo you can find, better than I can hold. We put a pic rail and red dot on top and it will put a smile on your face no matter what age and discipline you are into. Every time I shoot it, it brings me back to center and is just too much fun!

Light and compact does have Kel Tec P17 written all over it. It will run like a scalded dog! I don't care if it's ugly, the performance and accuracy stand out above the looks. I bought my wife one. She loves it. I then bought myself a Taurus TX22. My wife shot it then she had to have one. She likes it equally as well as her P17. The Kel Tec as a little lighter trigger. Either one are excellent pistols. Cheap bulk ammo is really no problem other than the normal once in a while failure due to the ammo. If you run a little higher quality ammo.......no issues. They love Federal Auto Match.

I will recommend **against** the FN502.

It may may just be mine, but it seems to me either the slide is bent or the mounting block in the frame is out of alignment.

It's got a great magazine capacity and a pretty good trigger , but it seems to jam up very fast when shooting suppressed. There's other much better options out there.

It's also a bit smallish in my hand.
